So I did a little experimenting with felling wedges between my overload springs and main leaf springs, kind of a poor mans stable-load. The work pretty damn good really... the ride has stiffened up a lot and I get no real wobble or sway when a front wheel drops into a hole when I’m leaning on a...
So I finally had the truck weighed yesterday. My 99 F350 extra cab with an Alaskan with 27 gallons of water in it, full tank of gas, plus about 75% of the gear I want to carry and two people weighed 9930lbs.... my GVWR is 9900 Split 4400lbs front/ 5400lbs rear. That’s a bummer as I had...
sorry, out camping for a few days.
thatns for all the info... I think I will look at new springs front and rear and shocks I guess. In the mean time I will add some falling wedges on the over loads and deal until I an spring up.
The truck has stock sway bars on it now. I’m not sure new ones will make a difference as I’m told switching to after market ones makes very little difference.

I have a 99 F350 4x4 with an alaskan camper on a flatbed. It is bolted down and is a dedicated rig and will not be removed except for repair. While I haven’t weighed it yet I know the camper loaded, wet and gear weight is about 2500lbs give or take 200lbs. In the future with it totally built...
First road trip in my flatbed Alaskan camper build. Lots to go but it’s useable now. It did everything I wanted it to without a hiccup, and I have a plethora of fresh pinstripes for its christening.
So, flatbed is in and the camper is as well. I have forgone boxes on the sides and decided to go with one door covering the sides. At the moment they are half done as I only have time to pick at it. My gold is to have the largest usable space possible so I have flush riveted the plate to the...
This tank should fit under and give me 26 extra gallons of water but they are spendy. . A 54” long, 8” diameter PVC pipe will give me about 12 gallons each side as well.

So I have a 99, f350 extra cab 4x4. I was crawling under it yesterday and it dawned on me that there was a lot of unused space under the cab between the sides of the cab and the frame. My first thought was I could probably fit some 8” scedual 40 PVC “tanks‘“ down there, each about 5’ long...
Hi all, ok flatbed on. I have come to the realization that most all under bed boxes are designed for DRW trucks and 8’ wide beds. Having a SRW, 7’ wide bed limits me to boxes that are basically about 14” deep as the leaf spring hangers get in the way. So the standard 18”x18” boxes won’t fit...
