BFG MT vs Falken Wildpeak AT4: Sidewall Toughness

Cooper ST Maxx are extremely tough, I would (and have) put them against anything else after 3 sets, BUT have gotten really expensive the last couple years in relation to similar tires. Lots of time in shale, snow, ice, mud, nails etc with them. Never chunked a tread or got a flat, even with...

Actually more like $300 because of the multiple cheap ones I got first that failed after a single month of use, or didn't run the advertised length. Again, I'm not in the warm states and spend more nights out between Nov-April than the warm months so quality is more important and our usage...

I'm in Montana and do the full four season thing, I focused first on insulation, since we already had a great range of sleeping bags and tent snow camp a lot already. Insulating the walls and using a double barrier/liner on the soft top definitely bumps up the retained heat a lot and makes it...

Did you plumb your fuel tank yourself, or get an installer to do it? What type of installer (Webasto rep, RV shop)?

Experienced opinions and concerns on pop ups and canopy campers

From my experience a couple years four season camping in the Rockies/PNW with my own vertical popup OVRLND and friends with GFCs and Alucab wedges, and ask yourself some questions based on where and how you plan on using it: Pay attention to usable space when the top is open. Can someone use...

How Do You Store Your Garbage?

Great topic, not storing trash properly in bear country not only could screw up your plans, but the next person using the camp spot after you. I swap depending on how long I'm expecting to be between garbage drops. <4 days at a time and I use a dry bag + kitchen bag inside my vehicle, longer...

I'm only managing the existing cables (3rd brake light, solar, and fan wires), but relocated them to the other side from where I had OVRLND place them. I've been using sticky cable tie mounts (like these) and they've held up fine now for 6ish months. I copied OVRLND's placement around the hinge...

The above dry lube helps as a preventative, and there's also either rubbing alcohol squirted into the lock when frozen or the branded Lock De-Icer stuff. I had to ask last year. Funny, decades spent driving in a winter state, I never had the need for my vehicle doors, just don't get the icy mix...

    OVRLND Truck Topper - $12500

Nice build out! I'm sure anyone who sees how massive the space inside is compared to other campers, will snatch this up in Bozeman. GLWS!

Doesn't hurt to ask again so newer owners can chip in, there's some older responses as well to this question. I think my responses are the same still, love my double hatches, double doors, my Terns, mostly the back windows. Terns are spendy, but really aid in year around secure...

We should all really do an OVRLND meetup in Bozeman at some point. I'm the green/mud colored Gladiator with the silver OVRLND running around the Gallatin.

That's a great idea to trim the slide out length, we could probably lose about 4" on ours, still fit our double megamat and give that much more standing room in our 5' truck bed. Gen 1 Tundra + OVRLND is going to be a GREAT adventure rig.

    Propex Heater in a box.....

I saw this Valiant Propex in a Roam box the other day. Been having the same thoughts, something to protect it from the elements and just hang on the outside when in use. I don't know if I'd pay $2200 for the convenience, although $1200 of that is Propex+heater accessories.

I got the solar roof ports, but only use 2 portable panels so far (~360watts). My plan is to use both eventually with some flexible panels up top on composite mounts like GrizzlyNBear setup recently, (lightweight, still provides airflow between roof and panels). I currently use the roof ports...

I think you'll love the extra height. I'm not very tall, so I can still sit up in the loft with the regular height, but barely at 5'8" when my bedding is folded up. Being able to sit "upstairs" is such an advantage to the OVRLND, I often work and read up there during the day while my wife is...
