    Navigation

I'm looking for advice on a navigation device. This will be used primarily for bikepacking and the handful of races I enter each year. The races are typically gravel/fatbike events on forest service roads or snow machine trails. Most are not marked, but a GPX file is available. I like...

    2018 Salsa Blackborow midtail overlander

I made it to ride camp the first two years. What a great weekend and what a bargain. The Salsa crew really takes care of you so you can just ride and enjoy Chequamegon. The beer fairy even made a special delivery to our bikepacking site. The way they push adventure by bike designs is great to...

    Ravn All Road Plus

The Ulv looks more interesting to me. https://rawlandcycles.com/collections/bikes/products/ulv-frameset If I had compatible components, I'd buy a frame and build it up. Sean's bikes are always well thought out and beautiful. I don't think there is anything questionable about Sean that I have...

    The paradox of choice

I picked up my bike on Friday. Just a couple of rides under my belt so far, but I love it.

    The paradox of choice

Monday I ordered a Cannondale Cujo 2 from a local bike shop. It should arrive soon. Timberjacks are pretty much gone for now. I do own a 9zero7 fatbike. I've been riding it in the interim. I've been spending a lot of time on my Salsa Casseroll on gravel forest service roads and pavement as...

    The paradox of choice

I read Grant's book many years ago. Full of wisdom, much of it good. I don't remember him addressing single speeds, maybe he did. I don't believe Grant sells a SS model at Rivendell. Which model do you ride? His bikes are damn nice, but I think I'll let technology like a suspension fork, gears...

    The paradox of choice

Thanks for all of the feedback and advice. I'm starting to sort things out and getting ready to buy a new bike. My budget is tight. I'm selling both of my single speeds to get a bike with a derailleur. I can't afford full suspension now. I've narrowed my choices to three bikes. Niner EMD 29er...

    The paradox of choice

How does one choose the right bike? So many choices now. 26x4, 27.5x3, 29x2 or 3. Hardtail, FS, how much travel? I've spent the last 25 years riding in the Midwest. A hardtail SS 29er was awesome. Now I live in the mountains and gears would be nice. My knees might require it. FS too. I've been...

27.5 "Plus" hard tail trail bike

That's not necessarily true. I doubt Salsa will allow REI to discount the bikes. Right now they are listed at full MSRP. End of season, sure, they can discount leftover inventory.

Stay tuned, something new from Salsa coming today!

Nice bike! For anyone who has never been, I'd highly recommend Salsa Ride Camp in Seeley, WI. Especially the overnighter. Great weekend of riding.

    Fat bikes

That was my thought. The big tires give her a lot more confidence on dirt and rocks. I figure she can ride it on snow as well.

    Fat bikes

Thanks, I've got a friend who is considering buying one. She loved riding a 27.5 x 3 FS bike this summer. I thought she might like the bucksaw in summer and it would still allow her to ride on snow in winter. One bike two seasons.

    Fat bikes

Christophe, I'm curious what you think of the Salsa Bucksaw on snow.

    Fat bikes

which race? I'm looking for some gravel events out that way. The only one I've heard of so far is JayP's pursuit.
