Bigfoot winter cold mods ....update diesel heater installation

wow this is such a great thread about the bigfoot. I’ve been going back and forth between northernlite vs bigfoot. Initially I didn’t like the idea of the bigfoot having access panels on the bottom. But now am thinking it’s not a bad idea, especially since I would be doing heavy modifications...

    New to me Outfitter Juno

Thanks for the follow up on the camper. Glad to hear outfitter stands behind their products the way they did. Hopefully the acquisition continues on those values and brings more innovation to their brand. We went full circle from wanting to go the truck camper route, almost pulling the trigger...

    Dodge Ram 3500 Overland Build

thanks for journaling your build and your blog is amazing. How’s the camper holding up? Are you guys still glad you went with a pop up? We have 2 little ones and are trying to figure out if we should go with a pop-up or hard side. The idea of not having to worry about height and lower profile to...

    Feedback about new Outfitter construction

Thanks for the reply. To be honest, I was not too impressed with the sound insulation of a northernlite either. However when I did a decibels test it was 20db quieter than a northstar pop up. Have you had any condensation issues in cold wet weather? that’s one of my bigger concerns with pop...

    Feedback about new Outfitter construction

Looks like It's foam sandwich panel. I'm curious if they vacuum infused the resin, but looking at the video it looks to be a wet layup using chopped fiberglass. Still curious about the sound isolation though.

    Feedback about new Outfitter construction

@nobueno Do you know if the new design is a sandwich composite construction? or just a fiberglass shell? Also any idea if they still use structural framing? or is does the shell become the frame like the northenrlites? How's the sound isolation vs a hardwall? I would imagine that the insulated...

    Parks requiring RVIA?

Thanks a ton for the comment. I was playing with the idea of having the dinette in the back with side entry for a panoramic view. But having the dinette in the front lets me put a 100gal fresh tank under the bench. Rear entries really does help maximize the space. And I don’t think it’s too hard...

Composting toilet for family of 4?

Thanks for the reply all. I’m not worried about it actually composting because human waste takes a long long time for it to be consider “safe” to be used as compost. Mainly want a solution to reduce smells and increase our time without needing to empty anything. I was thinking of plumbing the...

Composting toilet for family of 4?

We're exploring our options for toilets and google search did not turn up any results for composting toilets stories/reviews being used by more than 2 people. Does anyone on here use on with a family of 4? If so, how was the experience, does it break down fast enough to not stink?

    Parks requiring RVIA?

Thanks for the reply all. I guess the best thing to do if I do end up building is to document everything well enough (which I would anyways as I love build journals) and get it certified. Last thing I want is to be turned away around due to enforcement when I’m camping my wife and kids. I’d...

    Parks requiring RVIA?

Thanks a ton for the feedback. It gets frustrating to talk to sales people like that. I’ve already CAD up numerous designs from flat bed hard side, to hard side pop up and regular slide in rear entry. It all looks interesting on paper, but I think i’ll have to build a life size mock up in the...

    Parks requiring RVIA?

Thanks a ton for the response. I called a few other camper stores and they've never heard of that either. So I think it was a shady sales tactic.

    Parks requiring RVIA?

I'm debating whether to build my own composite truck camper or pick up a northern lite. There's not any floor plans on pre-built units that I've seen so far that accommodates our family of 4 very well (2 adults and 2 kids under 10). During one of my visits to a dealership in California, the...
