Newbie to Toyota FJ80 Pros and Cons...

With a lot of maintenance 80s are excellent, otherwise... Not so much, most are overpriced and beat down. I own a 92. Aftermarket is slimmer pickings and more expensive than a Tacoma or 4runner. Be ready and be able to work on it, extensively, yourself. Or have the funds to pay someone.

Realistically...how often do you use your hi-lift?

Seriously? Useless? Rednecks...? Nice. Maybe I'll make some unfair judgmental statements of my own. A hi-lift may be useless, on it's own, to a city slicking elitist but to a lot of folks they're an invaluable tool. When you need it, you need it. I'm glad you watched a youtube video on one...

Lightforce lights for sale - NV

2 Lightforce 140 Lances, didn't have them very long before I pulled them off to sell the truck. They've been hanging out in the garage forever waiting for me to finish the 80 and now I decided I don't need these, I need money for the land cruiser. Wow!! No disrespect to Taco owners. . .

 http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/technical-chat/246760-2nd-gen-rear-axle-bearing-diy.html Didn't realize they used them that recently. Just picked up a 92 FJ80 though. :D They're solid trucks.

Wow!! No disrespect to Taco owners. . .

1st gen bearings are more difficult than 2nd gen, with regards to the sealed unti bearings. 1st gen requires the whole knuckle to be removed. 2nd you can remove the bearing and hub from the knuckle. Old school Toyota's used a spindle with non sealed tapered roller bearings though. Easy to...
