I’m following in your footsteps with my own build! I have a 2015, which has the start/stop battery rather than the VQM.
I’ve found that a 100Ah lithium battery from Renogy fits in this space nicely:
I believe It’s a bit longer and taller than H6, so it will want a custom bracket.
The Renogy...
I've used a NOCO Boost XL to jump start my Fuso (2018 FG4x4) when it had dead batteries after sitting for several months with an OBD reader plugged in (!). It had enough juice for one jump. The batteries were dead enough that they wouldn't hold a charge and they were replaced.
Chiming in regarding wheel choices:
These are aftermarket wheels, Replika R230, a 20x9, offset 48 with the correct bolt pattern and hub bore. They are similar to Style 508 OEM wheels. No fitment issues.
Congrats on your new rover!
I wondered what would be in that space…good to know.
Regarding wheels, I've seen this photo floating around of an L494 with Black Rhino Alstons. Looks insane! Lucky8 markets them as fitting the Disco 5 and L405. But they have a 25mm offset, which seems wrong. Anyone...

This has been my dream vehicle, but now it can be yours!
2018 Mitsubishi Fuso FG4X4 was bought new in 2019, and has a lightweight insulated fibreglass/foam camper body by Total Composites. The articulating subframe was engineered and installed by Intercontinental Truck Body in Vancouver...
The biggest I've ever heard of on an FG is 335/80R20 Michelin XZL MPT (41.1" nominal diameter). Looks crazy:
Wheel arches had to be changed, fenders replaced, axles regeared. Details on the owners' website (German).
Hi Cameron, attached is an excerpt from the service manual that describes how to access and clear codes thru the dash. The new trucks are uh, active communicators. I've had a check engine light for failing to set the dash clock!
