Please talk me out of my irrational desire for a Disco

Well, I’ve decided to get something with a warranty and as the Disco is low man on the totem pole, it must go. Here is one of the ads for it: https://landroverforums.com/forum/private-sale-trade-classifieds-20/2000-d2-se7-94949/

    2000 discovery

Read my thread here. Should tell you everything you need to know. Bottom line: darn things are like crack, and worth the effort- and trust me, there IS effort. Zero rust, straight body, and a driver? I’d do it. To make it right (depending on your definition of “right”) will probably take a...

Please talk me out of my irrational desire for a Disco

I’m using an ultimate mx hauler. I totally love it as it makes loading and unloading a total joke. It’s not rock solid stable, but I’ve done total of around 10k miles with it between the Disco and Jeep. I also love the RFS- way more capable than me, but I have a bunch of different setups...

Please talk me out of my irrational desire for a Disco

Another 1k mile trip- the first one using as a hauler for the little bike to a dual sport ride. As to be expected, it’s slow and gets poor economy, but it was flawless. I got back late on Sunday and had work on Monday, so I took one of the other cars as I was exhausted. After work on Monday...

Please talk me out of my irrational desire for a Disco

Yeah, it’s been a fun toy and I think I’ll keep it for a while. The practicality is really there as we use it for cerything from hundreds of pounds of crap from Home Depot on the rack, to pulling a utility trailer, to even towing a car home for someone, in addition to hauling 7 people, around...

Please talk me out of my irrational desire for a Disco

I rarely am on this forum any longer, but thought for anyone looking to take the plunge, I’ll do another installment. The blue one has officially proven itself and I have completely reversed my initial thoughts on the D2 as a whole. I will say that in order to achieve such bliss, expect to do A...

Please talk me out of my irrational desire for a Disco

So I took a Disco off road for the first time. I was quite impressed. Only a few minutes from the house and totally impromptu, but it is quite capable, and flexes incredibly well. I've put a 2” lift in (springs front, spacers for the airbags rear) and shocks all around as well as...

    2004 Discovery repair advice needed

I'm lucky to have a parts truck that has SAI that worked properly. If you need any parts let me know. I didn't mention previously as it didn't seem like you wanted to do the work- sorry. Your logic sounds good and as long as you have some patience, you can probably sort it out.

Just BFG KO2s: 265 60 18 on the OEM wheels. As for the trail, no clue. It's a few minutes from the house around Farmington Canyon (north of SLC).

    2004 Discovery repair advice needed

This makes me feel very fortunate that I now have a non SAI D2. I had no issues with it in my first, but was always scared of it. Replacing the part should not be hard and if you are selling, I'd buy it used. Now, finding all the possible vacuum leaks and confirming all the parts are...

Finished a 2” lift and decided to take the Disco out and play a bit with the kids. They had a blast and I have to say I'm really impressed with the Disco. No sway bar disconnects, barely larger than OEM tires, and still has airbags in the rear. Not even aired down.

Towing an “adventure trailer” with disco I or II?

Keep in mind, no matter how well cared for, or what the service history is, you will still be fixing stuff on a D2 as they are getting older and stuff is just starting to fail from age if nothing else. I think the LR3 and 4 are nice. I guess. Bit they don't do it for me. At the prices folks are...

Please talk me out of my irrational desire for a Disco

The hilarity continues. So I've finally gotten the “new” one to DD Status and have enjoyed it a good bit for the last couple days. However, what cracks me up is after I replace both front door lock actuators, I come to realize the rear cargo door one is out. How funny. Then, I took...

Please talk me out of my irrational desire for a Disco

He was the ring bearer in our wedding, if that gives you an idea of how special he was to us. Keeping things on happy notes, I managed to flush the coolant and do a good bleeding. I'm adding a bottle of Water Wetter too as a means of keeping temps at a good level. I also totally removed the...

Please talk me out of my irrational desire for a Disco

On a happier note- or funny at least- the Disco adventure continues to be par for my expectations. I think its absolutely hilarious. I was so excited for the airbags... And it gets better... My wife mentions to me, “hey I think there might be a leak under the Disco”. “Are...
