Owned an 86 4Runner, two FJ60s, a 93 FZJ80, a 99 UZJ100, and now an 04 GX470. All great vehicles! Comparing the 100 and the GX is tough because got the 100 with high miles (around 180K) while the GX had around 85k but was meticulously maintained when purchased. My Dad sold his Tundra and bought...
^This is exactly what I did too^ . Bought the 1000 awning and the FR Eezi Awn brackets. Found that it didn't work so researched and bought the Eezi Awn L brackets from Equipt. Found out the FR brackets don't really line up/connect well with the EA L brackets but it was close so started filing...
Just installed my new GordiGear with the FR low mounts. So far so good. Was up there for a while and experienced no bowing/bending with the floor and I'm 250 lbs. Side note - the 80mm (3.15") mattress this RTT comes with is nice!
Just purchase a GordiGear Explorer but haven't received it yet. Got the FR low tent mounts for my SL II rack on my GX470. We'll see if there are any issues. My first RTT! Hadn't seen anything to suggest that there would be any issues (until now)....On a side note, about to go out and install my...
Passenger side. When camping it's nice to keep things easy to grab on the passenger seat and floor. Probably wouldn't put things on drivers seat and floor.
Went to my local REI today and saw this tent. It was light weight but it seemed well made. The mattress, however, was not good. Hip was on the floor in no time just testing it out.
Equipt sells "L" shaped brackets made by Eezi-Awn that have a C channel that slide on to the back of the awning. I mounted the L shaped brackets to my FR brackets and attached those to my FR Slimline rack. They made it look like it would fit together seamlessly but they don't. Required some...
Thanks for your response. If it's not too much of a pain, mind helping a fellow Tucsonan out and posting some pics of how it's mounted? You just went with the FR Maggi brackets with longer bolts? I'm on the fence weather to bite the bullet for a Maggi or get a GordiGear soft cover tent. Pros and...
My dad gave me his Canvas&Tent Safari Bow Tent. Made in South Africa and seems to be of the highest quality. Set it up a few weeks ago. Kind of difficult but will get easier with practice I'm sure. Didn't think to take any pictures at the time. Haven't seen any mention of this company on...
Have no personal experience with any of these tent brands. Currently in research mode like you too. Eezi-Awn certainly seems to be the best soft cover tent but, for the money, you're in AutoHome hard top territory. I only need a two person tent so just can't see spending 2.5-3k on an Eezi-Awn...

My Dad is selling his 2010 4X4 TRD flex fuel Tundra. He will negotiate on the price a little bit. Bought it to tow his trailer but he sold that a few months ago because my mom wasn't into traveling around in it. It is really clean and has less...
