2m HAM (Dual): Monitor two 2m frequencies?

It will stay on frequency till you change or scan. To transmit, you need to choose the appropriate vfo, select it and transmit. Fortunately, on the ftm300,ftm400 and ftm500. There are a/b buttons on the mic to choose the vfo or simply choose it on the face. I chose the ftm400 and didn't...

2m HAM (Dual): Monitor two 2m frequencies?

Yes, in that case yes, a true dual vfo radio would be able to listen to both frequencies at once. Problem becomes when wheeling or any semi intense activity is occurring. Which vfo was that transmission on? Not such a bad deal if it has 2 separate speaker out puts. Then you physically place...

2m HAM (Dual): Monitor two 2m frequencies?

Not quite sure what you are asking. Or I must of had a stroke again. My ftm 400, as well as any true dual vfo dual bander ahould be able to.. For instance will do the following. A: scan memory bank on vfo a and dual watch a priority channel (for me 2m nat sinplex). B: it can on vfo b. Be on...

    Ditch light / antenna mount

I didn't like the one for the lc100. Bit flimsier then I had hoped. If I had a metal brake I would of put some extra bends in it to get it closer to the fender and stiffer. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk

    Ditch light / antenna mount

Make sense.. Roof racks, was going to get one. Till I had problems figuring out how to make an nmo to nmo jumper. When shopping, ask the manafacturer what type of loading it was designed for. Even when, it in specs. I see a lot of rocking from my ditch mount, due to the light and antenna...

    Ditch light / antenna mount

Personally, I am using a massive metal ditch light antenna hood mount on my landcruiser. You do lose a bit of range and directionality. Due to the obstructions of the pillar and really bad ground plane. Same antenna, same radio compared to a center roof mount. The ditch mount antenna hears...

WeBoost Antenna mounting options for 3rd gen Tundra (2022+)

Something like this. https://www.ragofabrication.com/products/3rd-gen-tundra-ditch-light-brackets With the optional piece. Might work well. https://www.ragofabrication.com/products/ham-antenna-extension It just will be closer to the a pillar. Unless you fabricate something up Sent from my...

WeBoost Antenna mounting options for 3rd gen Tundra (2022+)

Most fender mount brackets are simple bent mild steel. Here is nmo one. https://albertaradiosupply.com/products/fender-antenna-bracket-for-toyota-tundra-2022-2023-nmo-mount-1 I thought they use the cb type of screw for the mounting. For my landcruiser. I was able to find ditch light mounts...

Midland MXAT04 heavy duty GMRS antenna

No clue. It has a limited use case, imo. For simplex it will probably work fine. For repeater work adequate. It's going to have limited gp (the biggest comprimise) some directionally due to mounting location. It really is just a randome antenna. Unfortunately, you probably know this, there, is...

Need ideas where to mount a charging base for two handheld radios

This is all my opinion. So some of it may not even be factual. Personally, I would mount them towards the drawers. Make sure to secure the radios in a sense, if they break contact with the charger they won't be charged when you need them, hence why a lot if flashlights (rechargable) clip into...

    Update Me on D-STAR

I would imagine they would. They put it in the ICOM 705a. I wish there was a mobile version of the 74a. I think I would throw my FTM400 in the classifieds if they had something like that. Imagine a 50w dual band mobile radio with APRS (fully accessible TNC), repeater database that was DSTAR...

    MXT115

Depends on what you are plan on doing with it. Trail coms, repeater, shoot the ********? if trail coms you are probably going to be ok with it, but your handheld will do about the same, better if you have an external antenna (mag mount). Not that I would ever recommend their handheld for GMRS work...

GMRS Walkie talkies, next step up

Those frequencies. It's all about line of sight. A better radio will buy you better filtering on transmit and recieve. Maybe negligible distance due to power output differences. Not necessarily worth the money. Every seen Lone Survivor? There is a reason Murph lost his life trying to climb...

Dual band HAM radio options, narrowing the choices

Most of the repeaters locally are DStar, or FM. There are a couple of Echolink nodes locally. For echolink I just downloaded the apps for it. Out here in Rockville, MD it is FM or DStar. Up north towards Frederick and Columbia there are a couple of Fusion repeaters. One 70cm fusion repeater in...
