$40k for use of a van that probably isn't built out the way each individual would want sounds crazy to me. Rent it out when not in use. There's apps for that and whole companies that just rent out 4x4 vans. You're in a great spot for it and will probably make a decent return. Just take the time...

Nice! Looks like you scored a hell of a deal. I realized the 7.3 compromise dilemma when shopping as well and ended up with a reasonable amount of rust on mine for super low miles. Being on the east coast though makes that a compromise in almost any deal. I look forward to seeing how this shapes up.

How long it would take is really individual dependent. Ujoint has a bunch of videos on the process as well as instructions that come with their kits. The bus as it sits is ready to drive, I haven't taken anything apart on it yet, I've been waiting until I have all the parts needed before doing...
