    Trans-America Trail

You might speak with Sam about your dilemma. He might have a solution. I did NC through middle of AR two years ago by truck. I didn't use roll charts, just Sam's GPS tracks. It worked fine. Plan to complete western AR into OK this fall after leaves are down.

    Dual XGPS150A

I will answer my own question thanks to the info here on ExPort. I have downloaded Gaia to my iPad for these purposes. Will test this out soon.

    Dual XGPS150A

Question about navigation maps using the XGPS150. New to this so bear with me. I guess I can't use the 150 with Google Maps on my iPad that does not have cell service? The location from the 150 moves along the map but as soon as I leave the area of my house in my truck the map ceases to refresh...

Basic Map apps iPad for U.S. backroads travel

Thanks for the info. What GPS receiver are you all using to your iPad or other device with wifi only capability? I'm looking at the XGPS 150 receiver which has good reports.

Basic Map apps iPad for U.S. backroads travel

I have a an iPad Air 2, wifi only with the latest iOS 10. I intend to use the XGPS 150 receiver. I want real time tracking for my vehicle using the iPad. What is the best map app for this application? Will google maps, google earth work or do I need other app(s)? I used to have the GPS Drive...

Trailer hitch motorcycle carriers, Anyone use them?

Versahauler VH-55RO vs Ultimate MX Hauler I've studied both these ramps here and elsewhere and can't decide. I have a Ram 1500 pickup with air suspension and want to carry a Yamaha WR250R. Both holders will more than carry the 300 lb Yamaha so no problem there. The Versahauler is slightly more...

    Trans-America Trail and Beyond

That's cool. Appreciate the clarification, not that any is needed but it brings back some memories. Back in the late 70s early 80s I was a paramedic and attended some "urban survival" classes. One of them was that if a patient had 3 or more tats they had an 80% chance of having done hard time...

    Trans-America Trail

Just completed the TAT from Andrews N.C. to western Arkansas in my stock Ram 1500. Not a problem in fact much of the trail has been paved in spots esp. in TN. There was one stream in TN that looked too high and wide from rains and I detoured 20 miles. There would have been issues with mud in...

    Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx

You can bet on that. Went back and forth with the KO2 and DuraTrac and finally went with the DT. Was worried about the thinner sidewall but so many people have used the DT in all kinds of conditions without any problems. I know a few had punctures. I'm more likely to be in mud or sand vs. rock...

    Trans-America Trail and Beyond

Thanks for that comment. I will leave after Easter barring severe weather outbreaks. I know this section is not technically challenging. I did switch to GY Duratracs which I'll use later in the summer for CO and west to Oregon. I don't mind jumping over to the slab when necessary. Just anxious...

    Trans-America Trail

Indeed it will be, better than my Ram but I need it for other things.

    Trans-America Trail

I'm planning on doing the trail from TN to OK right after Easter. I have Sam's maps and tracks. Will be driving a Ram 1500 with GY DuraTrak tires. May complete the remainder late June or July as the CO passes won't be clear of snow till then. Would think your XJ would be more than adequate.

    I can't deicide which tire!!

The debate goes on. I'm trying to decide between the KO2 and Duratrac for my Ram 1500 for limited off road but that would include CO, UT and NV where the reports of the Duratrac sidewall issue concerns me. If I was only east of the Rockies I might tend towards the Duratrac. Does going from a D...

    Trans-America Trail and Beyond

Regarding the TAT from TN to OK do you think my Michelin LTX ms/2 tires would be sufficient? Certainly better than the stock tires on the LR4 trip in 2013 based on some pics I saw. If I continued on to Oregon I would plan to switch to 17" and a BFG KO2 or something similar. Just wondering about...
