I setup my winch almost identical to yours. Except I built the mount. I strongly suggest that you reinforce the frame behind the mount. FROR makes a kit for $40 or so that is well worth the money...
Towing with a smaller vehicle is much safer if your trailer is equiped with good brakes. Pulling power is second to stopping.
I've towed 5000lbs or more with my 85 4Runner several times but wouldn't dare without trailer brakes.

Had a small bulge on the inside of the front drivers side tire. So small you couldn't feel it.
The bright side is, I get to buy new tires!
I have a fairly serious wabble when braking. It only occurs when slightly turning left and breaking at speeds above 35 mph. I've had the rotors turned and the steering feels tight. Anyone experience anything like this?

Get a gallon of miratic acid and a pound of baking soda. Put gravel in the tank with the acid. shake (a lot). empty and rinse. add the baking soda and some water and rinse again. Dry the inside with a hair dryer.
I have hauled plywood in the back of my 85 4Runner before however it is a pain and you can only fit 2 or 3 sheets depending on what size (1/2,3/4). I use a trailer for all of the material hauling I need. Mine does surprisingly well with a trailer.
