When I was at van specialties they showed me seat swivel pedestals. It's not a bolt in item for a chevy. They would need to make adapter plates or something. If you brought your van there they might make you one, it won't be cheap. If I had more time I'd buy one of the pedestals and design the...
Update on my lift.
I drove it around for a few months with the 3" blocks in back and the Traxda keys in front. I hated it. The van sat much higher in the back because I couldn't get much lift out of the Traxda key on my driver side. With the driver side adjuster all the way in I only got 1"...
Your more likely to see me at White Pass, that's my home mountain. I like to go to Bend for spring break to ski and ride. They have great camping at Mt Bachelor.
Opening weekend at Mt Baker was awesome!
Camped in upper lot. Webasto ran all weekend with no problems. We were nice and toasty while the wind and snow howled all night.
I hadn't checked my thread for a while, sorry for taking so long to reply.
Here's how I feel :
Pros-
More reliable
Way more power, no need to worry about steep hills!
Better mpg
Modern engine
More than twice as much room inside. Way more.
Easy to find parts.
Handles crosswinds way better...
I asked to make me some last year and was told they just discontinued them. This is great, the Chevy GMC awd seems to be getting much more popular with the van camper builders.
I was hoping to get one for each side so I could have my spare tire and a large kitchen box but keep the factory...
That is exactly what I plan to do DogCrazy. I just wish I hadn't already purchased the traxda kit.
If others agree we need to make this easy to find in a search. Better yet, someone could sell a kit with all the parts.
The light bar is a Vision X http://www.visionxusa.com/shop/xmitter-low-pro-xtreme/
They're expensive, not an eBay special. I didn't mind paying for quality, this light is very well made and I expect it to last indefinitely. I got the 40 degree flood light pattern because I spend a lot of...
I just got off the phone with Traxda technical support.
I told him I wasn't getting the lift I expected from the front keys. He told me that I might have it up as high as it should go and to check to make sure I had at least 1/4" between the upper control arm and the bump stop. I see the...
Wow TeleSteve, the supreme suspension kit is only $154 on Amazon Prime right now, only half the price of the Traxda!
I wish the manufacturers would include the amount of indexing on the keys so we could compare.
I compared the Traxda keys to my stock keys and there wasn't much of a difference in the key index. I wonder if I should have gone with a different key.
If I could do this over I would order keys from Maxx because they had a secondary key to make finer adjustments, I believe this would allow...
My heater was plugged with carbon after maybe 15 hours but I had it set too rich and added the improper fuel filter + fuel damper. Now that I've got it sorted out there's probably 40 hours on it with no problems. I'll pull it out before ski season starts to take a look. I'll post photos
I'm still looking for a solution for the front lift. I'd like a stiffer torsion bar but haven't found one yet. In the back I'll probably put the 99 suburban springs in. It's expensive but I believe it's the best long term solution.
I'm off to Mt St Helens for the weekend. I'm going to fix...
Thanks for the feedback 86CJ. My original plan was to go with the 99 Suburban leaf springs in the rear but I thought I'd try the lift blocks first to see if I could save some money. The 3" block is too much, I'm either going to go down to 2" or just blow the cash on Suburban springs I guess...
My van sits really low. I've scraped the bottom of the van and the receiver hitch just about every time I go off road and every time I back into my driveway with a bike rack on I scrape the pavement. I'm sick of it.
My drivers side sits much lower than the passenger side, I assume because...
