Jeep Gladiator Build Thread - 18 months around Australia with The Road Chose Me

Dan that closing shot on the ocean looked incredible. Don't think I would have left there for a while!

    Post Pic's of your Jeep

I have a Gladiator Mojave on order so this is my LJ on perhaps it's last long trip with my friends JK. It was a very recent trip, with the photo taken south of Tatla Lake on route to Bella Coola, British Columbia.

    Land Rover ideas for Jeeps

I use a tarp set up off the back of my LJ very similar to that green Defender. It was inexpensive, takes up very little space in my gear, and can be put up in less than 5 minutes. I sleep inside my LJ so that is the extent of my set up. There are some interesting ideas in this thread, keep them...

If they ever make a Gladiator closer to those dimensions, I'm in.

    Which Jeep Model & Why?

When I shopped around a few years ago, I decided on a very well modified 6spd 05 LJ, which I felt offered the best value, all around ability, and ease to work on. Initially, it was used as a DD, however work now provides a vehicle so it no longer fills that role, but it did so just fine. I also...

The Road Chose Me: Driving a Jeep Wrangler 80,000 miles around Africa for 2 years

Hey Dan, pretty sure I just saw you driving west on hwy 1 through Burnaby towards Whistler. You headed to that BC overland rally?

    Rubicon or Sahara

Is there an advantage to driving 60mph in 4LO over 4HI? A Rubicon can do that just fine in 4HI, no? I'm not sure what the advantage is of doing it in 4LO. I have an LJ sport which I got after selling my TJ Rubicon. The one thing I miss, and am thinking of upgrading, is the transfer case.

    Expo LJR Update

The safari tank is a great add on. I decided to go with the Titan Trekker tank though due cost, and the ability to lose the weight when not in use. It gives me an extra 200km in range, but I only use it while on longer camping trips. I think the LJ is a great expo platform, yours looks awesome!

    Expo LJR Update

Sounds like a good build. My LJ suspension and steering is Currie too, you won't be disappointed. I have 4.56 gears, but it's a manual. I sometimes wish I'd gone with the safari tank but couldn't justify the cost. Got any pics?

    Rubicon or Sahara

I much prefer the Rubicon to Sahara, for my purposes, but for what you are describing, the Sahara sounds better. Even better though, would be a sport model. Less weight spent on fancy junk can go to handling your other extras. I don't think you'll see a big increase in fuel economy with the...

    Post Pic's of your Jeep

Just thought I'd throw up a couple pictures of a new set up I was messing with over the long weekend. Found a nice secluded spot and tested out the cover, flip down table and storage/sleeping deck I made. My wife (5'9") and I (6'1")slept well on the deck inside the Jeep, but it needs a slight...

    4.56 or 4.88s?

4.56 for manual, 4.88 for auto, with 35s. That's the rule of thumb for the TJ and I believe they share the same 6 speed.

Drove a JKU and JLU back to back yesterday...JK is still better.

Sure, but if you want all the other features a JL offers, and all that's hanging you up are the fenders and lights... I wasn't being sarcastic, I don't really like the fender/light combo on the JL and would do this if I got one, though in fairness, I think JK fenders are ugly an would be...
