Awesome journey gait!
Thanks for the extended reply I enjoyed reading it and had me remembering travel tales as well - we started in Vladivostok Mongolia Kazakhstan Kyrgyzstan Uzbek back through Russia to Estonia - all over Europe and Scandinavia like you - Turkey and Morocco - UK - across to...
Hey there Gait,
OK! well I don't know if I'm that inspired to change vehicles now! haha - kidding of course... I'd like the extra space and load carrying ability - sounds like we have probably driven similar areas of Asia - no broken springs in the Patrol (coil cab), no snapped wheel studs and...
Sounds really practical for remote travel... haha - cynicism obviously as I know heaps of you guys are out and about in these rigs without issue! So it sounds like most of these fault codes are relatively easy to overcome unless of course its something major which I assume is rare!
Is that a...
Thanks Bris31, Everything you just said is pretty well where I am, and the conclusion I've come to! Our current Patrol has a pop up camper on it and it's worked extremely well given we've been travelling in it for nearly 3 years... I can't complain but now we want a little more space and the...
Always something!
Well at least I know you've been up at those altitudes with nothing more than the usual problems that occur on any extended journey! I know there are plenty of these trucks out and about and as usual you only really hear the horror stories so it's nice to hear from someone...

Haha, yep it would be really nice to know it it's running backwards! Sounds like there are a few sensor related issues that could make for a slow day but I'm guessing they are generally pretty reliable as well...
thanks - Justin
Hi STU, Honestly we are still on our way home from an extended overseas trip! Just chomping at the bit to get the next rig underway! Your 649 looks great! Realistically I'm in research mode currently as I'm really green to these vehicles! I'll be building a custom camper body so whats on the...
Sounds good selfy, thanks for that - the picture is becoming clearer for sure! Seems everything Fuso is available ex QLD - must be the home of these trucks...
thanks...
Uhuh! thats great news... thanks gait I was hoping there was some crossover of engine technology - sounds like I'll have to be on the ball with model selection...
great - cheers Justin
Hi Dan, hmmm OK so the 4D34 in the FG649 is common rail! Thanks for pointing that out - I thought the pump was electronic but not common rail... guess thats why I'm asking you guys to point me in the right direction - might have to step back a little further then and lean toward the FG637...
