    3rd Generation 4Runners

I really enjoy my 3rd gen 4runner. I have owned since mile one. Sure the 80 is bigger inside, but it is bigger outside too. It can be tight on trails. I do ExPo trips in my 4runner and rock crawling and it does well with both. I have a 45qt Engel fridge in it and still sleep two. It is a little...

    Aux fuel tank ideas

If the new aux tank is smaller than the stock tank, you could fill the aux tank and pump the gas to the stock tank. The problem would be that you could run the aux tank dry and burn up that pump. also when on a long road trip, refills would take a long time. You would have to fill the aux tank...

    Aux fuel tank ideas

If I was going to do a pair of tanks, I would use another pump and sending unit (gas level) in the new tank. Then add a switch that would turn one pump/sending unit off and turn the other on. So when you drive, as the level gets low in one tank you flip the switch and run off the second tank...

    Jerry Cans (gas cans)

Finding a good quality Jerry Can is difficult these days. Most are cheap plastic. Even the good steel ones have cheap plastic nozzles and caps. This isn't going to cut it when wheeling. There are two REAL options. One is the Scepter MFC (Military Fuel Can). They are awesome. They are made from...

FJC Long Travel Build: 3Link Rear w/ Coilovers, Camburg, and more

What an impressive build. I didn't think there was a way to mount an Atlas to a Toyota tranny. I assume you built the adapter, right?

CV axle needs to be replaced...recommendations?

Go with a rebuilt Toyota OE axles only. The only exception appears to be NAPAs, they seem to be OK. Most auto parts store CV axles are made from junk steel that is poorly heat treated. Yes, they have lift time warranty but when the stub breaks off inside the diff, it sucks to get out. Also some...

03 taco handle a 600 lb slide in camper?

4 cylinder or a V6? Either way, The mountains will slow you down, more with the extra 1000#. Is it doable? Sure. I tow my 2000# trailer thru the mountains, 3.4L, and I get my mind set on "it's going to go the speed it's going to go". On the flats, you probably won't know that it's there. Go for...

    Toyotec coilovers

The ToyTec Coilovers are typically built on a Bilstein 5100. I built mine on Bilstein 2450 shocks. Some feel that the 2450 (HDs) are too stiff. I like the ride. If you don't have extra weight up front you can order a lighter spring rate coil.

    Sportsman 8

I found a few late 70s FWC. I'm now learning that older trucks, and the campers that were made for them, had wider beds (64"). Newer trucks, mine is a 98 F-250 light duty, have narrower beds. My tailgate opening is 60" and between the bed rails is just over 62". I guess I need to start looking...

    Tie downs

I'm curious of the pros and cons of both. I have heard that turnbuckles need to be checked fairly often. I have also heard that adding a jam nut seams to help. I'm wondering if the ratchet straps would stay taught. I do know they stretch when wet.

    Tie downs

It looks like almost everyone uses turnbuckles for tie downs. Has anyone used some short ratchet straps?
