    Anker EverFrost Refrigerator Battery Recall

A few months back I purchased an Anker EverFrost 40 from Amazon. They had a sale on and it seemed like a good deal to get into an electric fridge, with the bonus of having a self contained battery. I have used the fridge extensively while traveling, working, and camping. I have had zero...

10L "Jerry can", 11L Dometic "Go Hydration" or Rotopax for water?

I use the Scepter 10 and 20 L jugs, they have held up very well for years. I have a shaker siphon with a valve from JAGMTE that I set up at camp.

    Dipped eyes on synthetic rigging?

I have an ASR dynamic rope with dipped ends, never caused any issues for me. It may keep the eye open a little better, and prevent sediment being imbedded at the highest stress part of the rope. I imagine the coating would tear if there was any damage underneath.

    Fiskers X7 hatchet: NO!

I personally am not a fan of the Fiskars, but know they work well for a good many people. They are also a good choice for people who prefer to neglect their tools. I have a couple issues with the - the bit shape (can't fix this) and the edge. As @jbaucom mentions above, the bit is a wedge...

Pictures of Food Cooked in the Great Outdoors

And the last evening meal on that float trip, chicken fajitas, dehydrated refried black beans, and Spanish rice (in covered pan keeping warm). Made to a burrito on flour tortillas but didn't get a picture of the final product.

Scepter Water Jug - What am I Doing Wrong?

I have found that you can open the air vent until it starts to drip and tighten it very slightly to stop the drip, you get a decent flow. If you can locate the can higher than what you are filling, JAGMTE makes an awesome accessory using a shaker siphon with a valve.

How did Voyagers/HBC Outfitters do it?

When using wool blankets in the cold, long fires were commonly used, with a tarp/shelter to reflect heat back in. Read Nessmuck or other early 20th century camping books and you will see keeping warm was a challenge. There was also a lot of snuggling.....

    Food Container for cooking?

The mention of Bento boxes reminded me of Zebra pots. They are more of a lunch pail but commonly used to cook in. They come with plastic clips to hold the lid, but wire clips are available as well.

    Practical barbecue grill solutions?

I recently picked up a PKGO. It is a bit bulky, and a little heavy, but I will take it on some trips. The lid has two cam latches for positive closure, and the lid can easily be removed to use the base as a fire pit.

    Food Container for cooking?

On another thread, someone mentioned soaking beans in a pressure cooker. The seal isn't 100%, but with a little syran wrap over the vents it could be. GSI has a 3qt anodized pressure cooker I am thinking about.

Can't go wrong with steak. We have been making Philly chese steaks quite a bit.

    Snow Peak Addiction

Looking at Snow Peak on Ebay makes you realize how crazy some people are! Someone has a Baja Burner listed for over $500. Glad I got one when REI had them in stock.....
