I'm running duals on my F550 build (245 70X 19.5"). I went back and forth about going to super singles but in the end it was the cost I just couldn't do. I live in the Mountains in Alberta and we run a lot of F550's and Dodge 5500's in the oilfield all through Alberta. I'm betting we're likely...
We were out the same time North of Nordegg. We have a propane furnace and a Cubic mini wood stove in our rig. Our Webasto is set up just to heat the engine for starting. Solar wasn't keeping up as we were completely off grid, but I have a 1000 watt generator that I plug in to the sore power and...
I bought my springs from City Spring in Edmonton Alberta Canada. I Don't have the part number for the rear springs but they were listed as Heavy Duty replacements listed at a rating of 8000 lbs per side. THe front are heavy duty F350, 4400 lbs rating, part number 4312603-HD.
I just have the...
Are you guys in Alberta as well? We're in Rocky Mountain House. Weather is to be -35 tonight but starting to warm up to -26 overnight Sunday so we're headed out for 2 days as it's a long weekend for us. Going to cut firewood. The last 2 weeks of -35+ have eaten through the wood supply pretty hard!
I have been in the same dilemma. I needed to get using the truck and the stock tires were wore right out. I bought a set of Irnonhead 245 70 19.5's. So far we are really liking them. They gave us 1 1/2" of lift and have the 4 season peak rating, also they were only $217 Cdn. each! They use them...
Made it out this last weekend again. Very little snow but got down to -26C. Pretty warm with the little stove. Did a little hiking then had to go on a search for a missing hiker. Wind dropped and the big lake froze over during the cold night. The Webasto pre-heater works great. The truck is a...
Ah Just wondered, Im just down the road from Edmonton. Lots of snow and cold here right now! With the 30% exchange rate buying in Canada is a good deal for US folks.
We have some limited groomed trails here in Rocky, but I was thinking more on the line of Light touring, not full on AT. There are some nice areas by Nordegg where you could stage from with your truck.
I'm interested to know how it turns out and how much of a difference you see. I live in Alberta and we have tons of ice and snow. I want to go to Super singles but we use our truck a lot in the winter and am concerned about performance on icy highways and roads.
