OBs and OBWs: Outback, Outback Wilderness

Helpful article. Spelling it out, An incline can be characterized by its Rise and its Run. Rise is how high you go, and Run is how far you travel to go that high. ◆ The Degree of an incline is the angle θ defined by the tangent of Rise and Run: tan θ = Rise ÷ Run, or, θ = tan⁻¹(Rise ÷ Run) ◆...

OBs and OBWs: Outback, Outback Wilderness

It’s just how degrees are related to percent slope. The incline meter displays degrees but mostly what you see is percent.

OBs and OBWs: Outback, Outback Wilderness

    Subaru claims 40%. tan⁻¹(40%) = 22°. In San Francisco I found a 25° hill, supposedly the steepest in The City. tan(25°) = 47%. Woo-hoo!

Subaru owners: Let's see your expedition rigs!

Not this time. I only stopped there for the picture. But I did on my original trip, last October. It’s a fantastic view. Have you been? We enjoyed a picnic lunch there. There’s a table at the overlook. The trail was fine for the most part. A little bumpy at the end for the last mile or three...

Subaru owners: Let's see your expedition rigs!

I’m a Subi newbie… Hello Expo Subi pilots, Long time member here, previous Jeep owner for 10 years and 200,000 miles, and I just replaced my Grand Cherokee with an OB, a 2024 Outback Wilderness. The first thing I did to her was immediately replace the stock tires, 225/65-17 Yokohama Geolandar...

    Post Pic's of your Jeep

Hello OBW, goodbye Jeep… Unfortunately my beloved diesel Grand Cherokee died in Moab UT, while I was at home near San Francisco. A shop had it and they were fixing a broken head gasket. When it overheated they think one of the connecting rods bent when it overheated. When they fixed the head...

According to their claims the OBW can climb up to 40% grade. I have not tested this. Yet.

OBs and OBWs: Outback, Outback Wilderness

Who has an OB or OBW? I just got an OBW and put BFG KO2s on it. With 10” of ground clearance, that’s more than my Jeep Grand Cherokee had. My diesel GC died so after 10 years and 195,000 miles on it, I got my first Subaru. It’s an OBW and I’m happy so far, although I haven’t had it long. Pic...

    Refrigerators

I just came back from a 2 week road trip with only a couple of regular coolers (not electric), and I can’t tell you how much water-logged food I threw away because it drowned in melted ice. Hunting for ice just blows. So does pouring out the melted ice water all the time. And it wasn’t that hot...

Well that blows. From the context of your post, can we assume your purchase was of a new awning? Not used? Thanks for letting us know.

Is the roof tent trend over?

With a diesel Grand Cherokee I was considering towing a trailer, but the RTT makes a lot of sense. I’m not ready to buy yet but I am looking and am considering one. If many are selling theirs then that’s good for me and other buyers. Not an expert, but the concept makes a lot of sense. And I...
