Lift rods hamper suspension travel, but the new subframe lifts for Defender preserve Defender's wheel travel and all height modes. But lift rods are $80, and a subframe lift is on the order of $5,000 installed, so a fine option if you just want your truck to *look* good.

    This truck is unbelievable good

I actually wish the D5 had hatch glass that opens. Super convenient when you just need to grab something, without having to open the whole rear hatch/door, like when you have a bike rack on it.

Looks like that could be coming on the next generation Discovery - rear hatch similar to the RR / RRS. I think the rear end in general is an acquired taste - on first look in photographs, I thought it looked like a dung beetle ready to roll a turd, but it grew on me very quickly. The hatch is...

If you drive poorly, more sidewall is more forgiving of mistakes and poor line choice. The 20" wheel/tire combo differs by about 1.5% vs. the original Defender's 80-series 16-inch tire volume, and a 19" wheel/tire package with the same sidewall height and more volume is available as a no-cost...

New vid. Some unnecessary mods on the Defender - it has lift rods AND a 2" subframe lift. A 4" subframe lift is available - if you want 4" lift, I'd spend the extra money for that vs. a 2" lift plus lift rods.

I would like to see what compromise you get with the Lucky8 18" wheel kit that is a fairly robust redesign of the caliper. The MHEV regen plus ever-tightening stability requirements (moose test, etc) mean more braking power and design impacts that force larger wheels are required. Yes, yes...

Mine has been absolutely flawless for going on four years and 50,000 miles. Lots of others I know with D2's and LR3-4's who similarly have never had anything more serious than an oxygen sensor or similar items that fail on every car eventually.

You can get a Wrangler DuraTrac as a dealer-installed option. The fact that TFL didn't know this is frankly yet another piece of evidence that they are not in the business of objectively reviewing trucks, but in creating clickbait videos.

Is a 60-series tire "low profile"? Only if you're driving KOH style or racing in Baja, or you line up 6 feet from a square edged obstacle and hit the gas, as "the best offroad driver" in that party did. And no, I would not drive at 70mph in Baja on those tires, but climbing a forest road in...

But they got clicks, yo. If you drive the way they did in the video, like complete Jerrys, then yes, you better have 37's on 18's aired down to 20 psi and about six spares. The bone stock Land Rovers that run in Moab, guided by professional Land Rover guides, do just fine. Mine does just fine...

    1. TFL Truck are wrong. DuraTracs are stocked at every LR dealer as a dealer-installed option for the Defender. If TFL Truck didn't know this it just confirms they don't know what they're doing as a self-promoted truck review vlog. 2. I run those exact same tires, exact same size, on my D5...

    New Defender News

I run those exact same tires - same size, same wheel - on my D5 and they are solid. What those idiots did was drive like idiots. You don't line up 6 feet from a square-edged obstacle and hit the gas - watch the video. It's one thing if you don't know it's there, it's another thing if you KNOW...

    Adventure One Day

The Vegas area is a fantastic location for weekend exploring. I lived there for ~3 years and there's a great underground adventure scene. Most of my summers I spent up in Southern Utah or over on the East Face of the Sierras on the 395 corridor. Mt Charleston isn't terribly tall, but it's a...

It's also because there's brake-based regeneration for the MHEV system. Tow rating on these D7 platform Land Rovers are limited more by emissions than they are by strength or stability.
