Hi,
the Van was no where near junk!
But I am with you, when you think it looked like so when all stripped, but I bought it with German inspection already done, aka TÜV, which a lot of car will not get that I see outside the EU.
Since the € went down compared to the $ in the last 6 months, no...
This is about my 1993 Ford E350 Econoline Quigley in its conversion to a Camper.
For us, here in Germany, an Econoline is rare by itself but even further more if it´s 4x4! I bought that thing in 2013 (!) to build a Camper out of it, because my Iveco 4010 was tooo much truck, and less of an Van...
Hi,
maybe this helps: My fender modifications for an early Quigley with 35 and no lift = doesn´t fit w/o mod. Just cutting is not a good idea.

That's a really great approach:
I wasn't aware that box trucks are partly based on E-Series. Here in Germany /Europe we are way more in high roof campers. I had soooo much work NOT to waste space inside with side panels moving in to the roof :-(

Thanks for this summary - very nicely done!
I doubt that more than 1% of SM drivers will reach those destinations - or want to try that! I have in mind those people who have ordered a nice one with a microwave and a senseo coffee machine and after lunch driving that??? ;-)
For most people...
This (mentioned pro and cons and their dependencies) is even true in Germany / EU! Diesel price is now 5,40$/ gallon (6.10 gas) ! 50% sales are diesel, tax and insurance are more expensive. Though almost all gas engines are with turbo/ inkl. cooler, direct injection etc. all very expensive parts...

Depending on budget you can use sandwich...
Very good!
I cannot believe how stupid grills are done sometimes - just looks :Wow1: I´ve sooooo many people here installing a LED light Bar right in front of the radiator and/ or installing a nice, heavy peace of steel instead of a bumper in the front. Actually there is a reason for the hole...
Nice looking project! :ylsmoke:
my 2ct:
- 3/4" plywood :Wow1: I know us European guys have a different understanding concerning weight - this looks more like "decent" for me :-) Would be interesting to know the before and after weight, like w/o interior and with your build stuff.

These so called NATO Cans are just gas cans in Germany. That is maybe the reason why these cost in a hardware Store. https://www.bauhaus.info/messgefaesse-kanister/unitec-benzinkanister/p/12601971?q=benzin%20kan
Maybe because we give a **** about military stuff.
IF you want to constantly crawl inside the truck - it will be a good choice.
I personally wouldn´t want that! Mine has a higher roof of 8", wich is the least I would tolerate. Depends on climate of course as well, and if you are off-grid all the time or sometimes in areas where you would want...
