I will actually be in Sedona as well, I'll keep an eye out for you while I am there. I'm joining a big group ride Saturday and will most likely be hanging out in the YT area.
Great write up! Especially appreciate the canvas part of the build as that is my biggest unknown as I design my own based on an aluminum shell. Now just need pics of it in use!

No kidding! It was probably less than 1/4" away from the door and slowly waiting for driver rear to climb the rock and get the body away from the rock.

Sweet! I will look for it and try to come by on Friday. I am camping just off site on the MTB trail that leads to the fairgrounds so it should be easy to come check out the DIY class.
It's an ARE DCU shell. I wanted one that was 6" taller than the cab but I found this on craigslist for a steal. It's a little more stealthy than a traditional slide in camper.
