So what's the deal with gears on the new trucks? Everyone I've seen running a 21' is still on stock gears. Is nobody making a 4.10 or 4.30 conversion for them yet? Even AEV is spec'ing 3.73's with 40's. I've never driven 40's with the stock 3.73 ratio, but my guess is that it leaves a lot to be...

I would go with 37's. For as many highway miles as we do traveling to different places it makes me want all-terrains. Nobody really makes a 40in all-terrain. Can't deny the off-road capability of a 40 though, its truly insane having come from a tacoma with AT's. But if I were being purely...

I can do 80 mph no problem, I just don't cruise at 80 because fuel mileage suffers. This truck is essentially a giant sale in the wind at that speed. The truck is regeared with 4.30's. There is a big difference between a ram with a fiberglass truck shell and 37 A/T's vs. a ram with a 3000lb...

Definitely not. This is not a cruise at 80mph rig. There is some much frontal area that it would probably reduce your gas mileage to something ridiculously low. At 60 mph on a flat interstate we can still get 14.5-15mpg.

In August, we escaped for a few days out to the Central Coast of California to visit Big Sur. The ridge road above Big Sur offers some great sunset views. Our friend joined us and brought along freshly made ceviche after spear fishing down in the ocean in the morning, what a treat! Here are a...

Here are a few more pictures after mounting the camper on the flatbed. After getting finished later in the day with installs, we ended up just pulling over on the side of the road somewhere. Here are a few pictures from our first night in the rig. Joining us was our friend in his 2019...

I'm not aware of that. There are several other trucks (tacomas as well as another Prospector tray bed running around with flatbed FWC's. On their website they show a four wheel camper. http://utebed.com/

Weight Here is some information on weight for the vehicle for others planning something similar. Vehicle Base Weight I weighed the truck a few weeks ago at our local scales.... stripped everything out (spare tire, tools, tray bed sides, anything in the cab, 1/8 tank of gas, etc) and the base...

You are probably right, but its just a consideration right now. I weighed the truck a few weeks ago at our local scales.... stripped everything out (spare tire, tools, bed sides, any equipment) and the base weight of the vehicle is 8000 lbs (7960 to be exact). Camper dry will be +1400 lbs. The...
