Several of you had PM'd me about the Michelin XZL in 255/100R16 that I've been running.
Very happy with the tires, but they're hard to get in the U.S.
Noticed there is a set of four on eBay...
I think you're insane to do the supercharger yourself, especially on a new truck.
The warranty coverage alone of having a Toyota dealer install it is more than worth the money and peace of mind.
I say this as someone who had the dealer install the supercharger at 500 miles (I was told you...
Probably a 70 Series or a Hilux with a non-D4D motor.
Interesting how many would go to a Defender... having gone from a Defender to Toyotas, I can't imagine going in the opposite direction.
Has anyone thought of grafting the 4Runner tailgate's electrically-lowering window (and likely quite a bit of the tailgate) onto the back of a Tacoma's cab?
Could be interesting.
Just having more crazy thoughts... as usual...
It's a pickup truck. I want it to do its job, get me places, not complain, and not require anything more than preventative maintenance with any frequency. That said, the 4.0 1GR-FE with the supercharger and 4.88 gears gives reasonable performance.
If I want to go fast, I've got cars for that...
They're ATX Mojaves in 16" with 255/100R16 Michelin XZLs (mostly in Africa).
They're ATX Mojaves in 17" with the largest Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V1 (in the States).
In both cases, powdercoated white with custom vintage Toyota centercaps.
jham - Will keep it in mind. Have a 20' coming with some...
It's official... I will definitely be bringing the truck to Overland Expo 2014. See you there.
Unfortunately, I have two new assignments that may well keep me away from having time to post much, etc. in the meantime.
But, until then... safe travels.
