    $5k SUV Showdown: '91 Burb,' 01 Burb, V10 Excursion

Rig looks great! Excursions are far underappreciated I feel, they are big and are a great do-all rig. Curious about the Ford OEM E-locker install. Have heard about it and considering going that route on my Excursion as well. Any info in regards to other parts (different bearings etc) needed...

Bullfrog ver. 3.0 2001 Ford Excursion

Thanks for the info, appreciate it! I was curious about the fridge killing the battery as well if it does have a voltage cutoff, your explanation makes perfect sense. Would love to see more detailed pics of the fridge fitment as a center console, have been considering doing something similar...

Bullfrog ver. 3.0 2001 Ford Excursion

Just realized you put a fridge in place of the center console. Any more pics or details on the fridge and install? It looks like you had to remove the passenger armrest but can't be sure. Again looks great!

Bullfrog ver. 3.0 2001 Ford Excursion

Fellow V10 Excursion owner here, looks great so far! Keep us updated, I'm about to cut the inside of the rear barn doors myself as there is a lot of storage to be had there. The current situation of shoving random stuff in the factory openings doesn't work all that well...

    37 Spare Tire In Excursion

I have a 37" spare in the factory location. I did remove the trim in the corner and then took air out of the tire to wedge it in place. I also do not want a swing out, and while it may not be super pretty, it works.

    My 01" Ford Excursion Thread

I am still running the factory steering box and have had no issues thus far (fingers crossed). I have not used Red Head steering gears but have heard good things about them. I have set up a number of vehicles with hydro assist steering when running large tires and it does work well. One main...

    My 01" Ford Excursion Thread

I have a 44 gallon fuel tank, pretty sure that's standard in all Excursion models no matter the engine but not 100% certain. Range is not an issue :) I did add additional steering stop. I drilled and tapped a hole in the knuckle and threaded in a bolt. It does affect turning radius but so far...

    My 01" Ford Excursion Thread

Range would obviously vary based on what type of driving. I usually just fill up when the others in my group need to...and have between 1/4 and 1/2 tank left when I do so. I do get over 10 mpg mixed driving but I don't track super closely. With the V10, 37's, and 5.13 gears mileage is never...

Red Cone for sure has some tight spots. Made it through OK but added to the trail “memories” as I like to call them...

    My 01" Ford Excursion Thread

Haven't updated in a LONG time but figured why not...lots of changes lately. Added Dana 60 front axle, regeared to 5.13, added some solar, swapped to synthetic winch line, plus a lot of other little things, but most importantly a good amount of time off road and camping. A couple poor pics...

Older Edgestar Fridge w/out low voltage cutoff...anyone add an external one??

Thanks dreadlocks, I don't think I have a choice but to locate the LVD further from the battery as the heat will be an issue. I will look into the voltage drop calculator and adjust the wiring as necessary. It never ends....my fridge cigarette lighter connection is being finicky so time to...

Older Edgestar Fridge w/out low voltage cutoff...anyone add an external one??

I like the epoxy idea, the sensor end is quite large but Im sure it can still be done. The link is awesome Dreadlocks, appreciate it. I do think the high temps under the hood are a potential issue for the Victron battery protect however. I have seen 145 degrees on the controller, decreasing...

Older Edgestar Fridge w/out low voltage cutoff...anyone add an external one??

Thanks luthj, what do you mean by "attach to the battery terminal"? I am open to ideas to keep hot air off the sensor.

Older Edgestar Fridge w/out low voltage cutoff...anyone add an external one??

Solar is installed but have not had a chance to install the battery protect. Took a quick weekend family camping trip and the solar is keeping the truck charged with fridge use and kids opening doors constantly. The Renogy solar controller, went with the Adventurer, had a few errors for high...
