    Paint or other coating options

Wasn't your camper repainted just last year? I can't remember.... but remember when you went through and redid a bunch of work and sealing. The wood camper has held up really well! Yeah I agree that the info I got from the paint places was highly biased... And I haven't heard of anything...

    Tie down / mounting thoughts

hahah that's funny. it's just a totally random google photo. The one comment i would say is in the case of the first post, i'm pretty sure the mounting locations that Scout uses are just fine as they are structural panels I believe, or at least have a backing of some sort. of course doing...

    Destination Unknown - a 1997 F350 build

So after being really happy at how the frame turned out with using the new product and the new method - especially how well the converter worked, I opted to take another week to wash, scrape, prep, convert, and paint the entire underside of the bed and body. All parts that are accessible...

The new 7.3 - how is it

Ouch. I honestly would have expected much better mileage. Good to know you have no concerns about the engine holding up thus far though. Have you re-calibrated the PCM with the new tire size? What is your fully fitted weight? I can't imagine a FWC being that heavy.... this and your other...

    Tie down / mounting thoughts

I think maybe theres some miscommunication going on? what is pictured is not to suggest what you quoted me... here is a photo of typical camper style tie downs this seems to place significant stress on the camper structure, which as you mentioned is pretty minimal below this point (the part...

    Tie down / mounting thoughts

It possibly depends on how the camper is built though. just about all factory built campers have tiedowns on the outside edge of the lip. which just seems like a bad idea to me. the one pictured above is at least on the inside instead the outside. But...maybe my theories the above picture...

    Paint or other coating options

I fully agree with you. and had that conversation with 2 paint shops. I can't justify 20K for paint in the first place, nonetheless on somethig that will be in the woods all the time. It would just be nice to have the few beginning problem spots repaired before they become real trouble. So...

    Tie down / mounting thoughts

mostly dynamic. However even in static the stress could over time cause damage - if over tightened. I think this concern is more relevant for older flexy trucks than the newer ones with super stiff frames.

The new 7.3 - how is it

I would be curious what your calculated loaded mpg would be. If you ever get that.

    Paint or other coating options

Went to another paint place to see what some options are. 1) buff and patch repairs - approx 2500. 2) total respray - starting at 20K They would not entertain spraying exterior with anything other than paint. Also suggested total respray would take about 8 months as warranty claims come...

    Tie down / mounting thoughts

Since this seems the best location for this question... In terms of general camper tie downs - they always seem to be outside the camper, going to usually the frame/bumper, possibly a truck bed, or maybe pocket die downs. Either way they always seem to connect to the outside corners of a...

The new 7.3 - how is it

Mileage seems to be worse than my OBS. Interesting... What about what the book says for maintenance intervals? Although, suppose I could look up that bit myself.

The new 7.3 - how is it

Just exploring for some info. Wondering what folks think of the 7.3. Curious how it has performed, what sort of mileage you are seeing (please specify loaded or not, highway/city, hills or flat, since this country is vast), reliability, etc... Thanks :-) Just looking at some other options...

    OBA mounting locations

Looking at purchasing this in the next few months 485C Gen.2 Dual OBA | VIAIR Corporation Curious to hear about mounting locations pro/con list that some have experineced. I know most jeep buys put their ARB's under the hood, and most truck guys probably just put it along the frame. I am...

2020 Power Wagon adventure rig outrageously over priced but I know what I have....

this market is insane. My dad just traded in his 19 3500 for a new truck and the dealership, yes the dealership, gave him 66K. it has about 30K miles i think. Bonkers... Are you actually parting with your truck though?
