    Sway bars... Pros/Cons/opinions wanted

1.5" Hellwig bar works great for me on my minimod. Previous owner removed the factory air bags and I found the body roll to be completely unacceptable without a sway bar in the back. The sway bar will limit travel offroad, but I'm not sure how it would lead to "harshness". Though i have...

The start of my own Ambo Expo rig

Java: In my 97 ambo, the coach builder had 2 horn circuits and spliced into the oem wiring under the engine compartment battery. If you haven't checked there.

    Ambulance Power Set-ups

Since each vehicles components, needs and setups are a little different, it's unlikely there is much in the way of a kit. The electrical takes some planning. It is very helpful if you can acquire the builder schematics and wiring diagrams to understand how things are setup. The electrical...

Cutting, shortening and welding the fuel tank questions/suggestions

I recently found another possible option. New tank from Aerotanks in California. They can make skid plates and custom tanks. But probably a pricier option. -from aerotanks.com "New for FORD Van's We now offer tanks for your Ford 4 X4 van conversions. Replacement and auxiliary tanks...

    Thinking about security

I've been thinking about this for a while myself and as nothing will ever be 100%, not attracting attention is not really an option. A multi level approach can go a long way, hopefully. I'm only partially through this list, but when funds allow this is my plan. 1. Good alarm 2. Hidden kill...

    Headlight upgrade?

I don't think so, but I already had that style. These vans did come with both styles in the same years. I don't think I had to use anything from the old housings to make the new ones work. My oem housings and bulbs were not nearly as bright as the new ones with HIDs.

    Headlight upgrade?

You could also go HID and new housings off of ebay. There are a few different styles of housings from white to clear black and most are made for HID's. This is what I did and am happy with it. They are pretty bright, way better than what I had, and use less power. I chose to keep the bulb...

I need a low profile roof vent. Do they exist?

Way late to the game here, but maybe someone else could use this info. Fantastic fan has a low profile lid and also a low profile base option. Lowest possible exterior height is 2 1/2". Link to the dimensions of most options: http://www.rvvent.com/pictures.htm Link to main page of dealer...

Ambulance Conversion Plan... Yes add one more to the list!!

Hobietony is correct. I have a minimod, mine is 6" narrower and swb. I read somewhere that they stopped making them around 1999, but not really sure. I travel a lot and the only time I have ever seen one on the road is in Pennsylvania (and saw a bunch), which is incidentally where mine...

    Interior material question

Sounds like FRP wall board glued onto insulating foam sheathing. You could make it yourself easily and inexpensively with some contact cement and a laminate roller. There are many types of foam sheathing available, some more flexible than others and up to 2 inches thick. Everything is at...

Help with 7.3 DIY airbox/intake fab. ideas?

Ya, I was going to forward that link to siliconintakes. You might want to try a silicon 45 elbow instead of metal. It should give you a little more wiggle room. Good time for a kill switch or two.

Help with 7.3 DIY airbox/intake fab. ideas?

FEDUPWBS, I got the filter from Amsoil directly, I also got the prefilter. The heat shield is still unfinished. Ultimately, it will bolt to the base of the battery tray (tray itself is removed). The air temperature sensor will plug into the shield, but looks like it may need to be extended...

Help with 7.3 DIY airbox/intake fab. ideas?

Some of the clips on my air box were broken off or not sealing well and, as a result, my turbo was gone. It is pretty pricey for a new box. An open intake seemed more cost effective and opened up room for a coolant filter next to the overflow bottle. That is, once I moved the battery to the...
