Absolutely. Agree on all points. I'll surf BCN at home, compare it against gazetteer and other more detailed paper maps as I form a plan. Downloading maps... pfffttt... I went to the South Island of NZ three years ago. I thought, I'm so smart, I'll dl all these maps. Nope! Sucked up so much...

Hi Dave, Makes sense. Yes, I'm thinking it's the wifi coverage. Which, ultimately, means my trusty paper BLM maps will always be the best option, eh? I see folks raving about Gaia and wonder if I'm missing out. Just old enough at 56 to feel trapped between technology and old school. Haha.

I've not used Gaia, only Backcountry Navigator... which has pointed out many ruins and hours of fun bushwhacking the Oregon desert to get to them. My only gripe is the periodic loss of data, even with a clear view of the sky. How does Gaia perform when far off the blacktop?

I know, it's crazy how few cars in general were on the lot. And not one 4R to be seen... but give it a year or so. A fair number will get traded when the mud washes off. Haha. :)

No doubt. Without the trade of our 2014 Tacoma it would have been an insane deal. But I also knew some of the mnx expenses coming on my beloved beat up desert truck... soooo. Ouch! No more wood builds for hauling stuff. No more old wet dogs to haul (RIP). And the 4R just seems easier to climb...

We just paid 39K in Upstate NY for our 4R TRD OR. The 2021 model we were going to order was listed MSRP at 44K. Salesman said out west dealers are getting 10-20K over MSRP. Staggering. The bubble of demand has ours appraised at 49K. Yup, insane. The salesman said we could turn around and easily...
