I would go with the Traveler if you're comfortable that there is sufficient floor space for your sleeping pads. Reasoning: these are big, heavy tents that are a bit of a bear to pack up frequently, especially when wet. Smaller will also be better in the wind. The Traveler is a proven model and...
EDIT: system is now sold.
Selling my Air Down Gear Up platform and drawer system for the 200 Series Toyota Land Cruiser or Lexus LX 570. This consists of the fold-out sleeper platform, a single drawer, and pull-out table. I purchased the platform/sleeper in 2020, and then the drawer/table in...
Edit: tent is sold, thanks for looking.
Selling a new Superlite that I just purchased in February 2023. Includes the GFC Puffpad and ladder, also purchased at the same time. This has never been camped in and is like new, only mounted to my SUV and set up to inspect after delivery. Some minimal...
Since Kimberley has been mentioned in this thread: can the classic "Karavan" sleep four people comfortably? Website and online brochure suggest that it can sleep two adults and two kids, but sleeping setup other than the permanent bed is unclear. Does the bench/dinette seating convert to two...
Bumping this thread up. Does anyone have more real-world feedback on using an offroad trailer/RTT combo for a family of four (think Boreas and the like)? We currently have a perfectly good 19-foot fiberglass travel trailer, but I'm getting frustrated with the limitations in accessing more...
Heh, we had a similar experience in southern UT several years back with our family of four in a GoLite mid. The tent itself held up surprisingly well to the wind, but I spent a couple of nights trying to keep the sand from piling up on my four-year old's face while she slept.
We over-corrected...
I believe there's an OEM front spacer kit available, check the 200 forum on ih8mud. I don't know that it will get you 1.5", but it should level things out a bit.
As an aside from someone who has a 200 series at stock height- I find the departure angle on the rear more of an issue than the...
Thanks again to everyone for the advice, this thread was helpful. Ended up with a 2009 Land Cruiser, 110K on the odometer and in really excellent condition. Two previous owners in TX but with complete service records showing dealer service every 5-10K since new. Water pump replaced at 65K but...
Yes. Agree on all counts that it's a good option. The only issue is the barn rear door, which I think will be a pain with our trailer. That said, maybe I should break out the measuring tape to confirm.
Good thoughts, thanks. The newer generation Sequoia is nearly a foot longer and 500 lbs heavier than a 200 series. If I'm going that big I think I would rather go with a Tundra, which seem to be cheaper when comparing similar miles and vintages.
The 100 series is a great idea and was actually...
Looking for a little advice on a purchasing a new-to-us vehicle for family travel duties. We currently have a 2009 4Runner V6 with 115K on the clock and third-row seats. The main purpose of this vehicle is camping, road trips, and weekend skiing in the Colorado Rockies and western U.S. Not...
