Sounds like FORD’s going to offer another engine choice for the Tremor

We've run 5.0s in our work 1/2 tons. They all failed poorly. I have a '16 Expedition with +200K miles. No problems with the motor. Ford grossly lies about maintenance intervals. If you change oil frequently and plugs at 50K intervals, these Ecoboost motors are rock solid.

FJ62 LS Swap - Lone Star Sleeper - Stoffregen Motorsports

It's hard to nit-pick such fine work by Matt, but the one thing I never liked about the build was the Bosch style in-tank fuel pump. After 25K miles, it did what they all do...die. The best fueling solution for these LS swaps is an OEM fuel module. The modern jet pumps are good for +100K miles...

You've made the right decision. The 14BSF is a great axle. Order up a Truetrac for the rear, not a locker, and you're good. You can order beefy half shafts up front, or learn how to swap OEMs in a pinch with spares. Also pony up for alloy axles out back. You need them in the rear. The factory...

FJ62 LS Swap - Lone Star Sleeper - Stoffregen Motorsports

So, here's an update folks. The Lonestar Sleeper, or as my wife calls him, Earl, is running as her daily driver. She loves it. It does everything real well. She was tired of driving the same mommy-mobile as every other person in town. I'll probably use it for scouting campouts because the...

The wifey didn't ask for much with the upgrades, but I decided to pimp out the stereo with this Pioneer headunit. Now she has wireless Apple Carplay and a backup camera.

FJ62 LS Swap - Lone Star Sleeper - Stoffregen Motorsports

Matt and I have discussed over email the absolute frustration he had with the ending of this build. Matt is a detail guy. I share this OCD attribute. Typically, some of the most fun is working through the little refinement pieces in making a vehicle truly fun to drive. It's the last 10% of the...

FJ62 LS Swap - Lone Star Sleeper - Stoffregen Motorsports

Let's work on something simple as some of the other projects are underway. The standard automatic shifter has the funky plastic gates that seem to break. Toyota doesn't make them anymore. I don't like the plastic gates, so I'll try another familiar 80s solution - the brush gate. I bought a...

FJ62 LS Swap - Lone Star Sleeper - Stoffregen Motorsports

Spent the afternoon working on the 62. The transfer case has leaks, so per Matt's recommendations, I torqued the various bolts per spec. Also added some RTV around the speedo cable to stop some leakage there. It still leaks an itty-bit, but manageably. I disassembled the front grill to gain...

FJ62 LS Swap - Lone Star Sleeper - Stoffregen Motorsports

Well, I was driving through the mountains of Colorado last month with my wife and kids, and my wife was admiring an FJ60/62 driving by us. She made the comment that she thinks those are really cool and that she would like to drive one of those for a daily driver. "Well", I said, "I know just the...

My '78 K5 runs great with the NP 203. I'd also recommend preserving the original function of the NP203. I typically run 85 on interstate. I average 10mpg on 35s. If you spend a little time cleaning it up, you'll have no problems.

1994 full size Blazer lift and tires

I'll be a different voice. I had a '96 Tahoe that I ran a 6" IFS lift on. I then went SAS on it. In hindsight, I wouldn't have done it. If you're planning on rock crawling this thing and bashing rocks, don't. Sell this thing and buy something already setup with big one ton solid axles. If...
