    2000 XJ (stock) - Southern AZ (Tucson) - 219K miles - 2500obo

Hi all, I'm heading east and can't take our XJ with us . It's been a great car and has taken us on a fair number of fun trips around the state. The listing is here http://tucson.craigslist.org/cto/5181920655.html

    Dealing with snakes and Scorpions

My experience in AZ has been that snakes will tend to avoid you. For scorpions, why not pack a little UV light ($4 at Ace Hardware), with those they should be able to see any scorpions they might encounter and call in the appropriate laser guided "D(ad)-Bomb".

    SLR or Camcorder?

Alt-suggestion I'll be the first to chime in, since I'm in the market right now too (though mostly b/c we're expecting our first child in a month). DSLRs , I believe, are very often found in the hands of people who have no idea how to use them, other than they look good. They would be off just...

The Arizona Strip, May 9-15 2009

Fantastic trip report! The pictures actually make the trails seem fairly well maintained. Any thoughts on whether this trip would be doable in lower clearance vehicle ~8 inches? Were there any only 4x4 sections.

    Outback vs. Honda Cr-V

Well, you have the Tundra DC so you are sorted in that regard. We're sort of in a similar situation (except no offroad car for us). We are both very tall, she's ~5'9 and I'm 6'5, and we've both always wanted a subaru for a variety of reasons, but when we finally went and sat in a 2001 forester...

    Forester: ExPo Subaru Project

Actually this build kind of reminds me of the Yellow 300TD Merc that was kicking around on these forums. Ultralight-eco-overlanding, I'm sensing a new subforum :sombrero: re: shipping from Aus. I might be cheaper to just have some springs wound locally, and see if you can get a quote on some...

    Forester: ExPo Subaru Project

Will definitely keep my eyes on this one. Almost picked up a Forester this weekend, but they are just too bloody small for me. Only thing I've found with >20mpg economy running under 10k is the CRV. I'll be interested to see how you handle recovery points etc on this Forester, maybe even try to...

Graffiti Mars Lava River Cave Near Flagstaff

Getting any money to protect caves is pretty tough. Fortunately for us, the nice folks at NAG and CAG have done a bang up job cleaning it up at least once a year.

    Raising/Training kids for Overland Travel?

Shot my idiot tube about 10 years ago now, and am thinking I should do the same with my computer. Wife's expecting in May :victory:, and we're both thrilled there's no TV.
