The Suburban solid rear axle is why it's designed this way and the other options feel like they have more space. Get yourself a leveling kit to fit 33" tires and it will take you a lot of places!

I vote keep both and make your burb a dedicated off-road car camping explorer rig! I like the Lexus 570 but I personally would hate to get it all scratched up overlanding even used they are $$$. You can easily drop in a 4L80 transmission out of any GMT800 2500 series truck/van/suv and a 14 bolt...
I'd vote for a more modern GMT400 or GMT800 Tahoe or Suburban really coming down in price and decent aftermarket. Get all the modern amenities and have cash left over to build to your needs. Transmission and rear end are the weak link if half ton. For longevity go for a 2500 Suburban.

Nice Burb! I contemplated the SAS but decided to beef up tie rods first the idler and pitman when needing to. Good luck with the swap and keep us posted.

The Cognito leveling kit comes with the UCA and if you go with the Fox Shocks you won't need the straps as this is handled by the shock itself. I'd ask Camburg if their Fox shocks do the same.

When I put on my sumosprings bump stops this by itself kept the truck leveled on corners then with the sway bar bushings gave me even more control and road feel. I was up in Pacifica this past weekend lots of switchbacks burb handled it great. Even went up to Alice Restaurant in Woodside tight...
It's a good buy and does what is advertised. Bump stops activate sooner for a smoother ride and keeps the truck leveled significantly on corners. The poly foam material allows the bump stop to compress up to 80% then stiffens. I basically had no bumps stops prior so going off drop offs rattled...
^^+2 only way to check is disassemble? I've not heard this either. Here's a cool right up with a PPE kit.

Cool Z71 all that ingenuity pretty cool stuff. Lots of good info on sensible mods. Nothing wrong with that I ran my burb stock for 13 years other than the Magnaflow exhaust. Burbs are pretty capable out of the box. Cheers!

Yeah man looks like it's been cut??? I have some close ups attached so you can compare. I have a 2003 2500 burb so suspension should be identical. I have Sumo super springs for bump stops which are much larger than OE and activate sooner. They are poly and compress up to 50% then become...
That is strange that the bump stop mount isnt there? Is it possible that GM revised the suspension setup on 03 and UP? I do know there are significant changes between the 99-02 vs 03+ so wouldnt be surprised.
Energy sway bar bushings came in today. My Suburban has 36mm 1 3/8 sway bar which in most parts store or online stores show only up to 33mm 1 5/16th a pain to locate. These are only available with the endlinks which I didn't need but can keep for the poly bushings on the endlinks when needed...
