    2011 Hotshot Conversion

This is what we came up with. Cassette is taken out the drivers side compartment door after opening it. Going to have a sliding door with an internal shower curtain to help direct water.

Personally I would roll with just that. You are able to get up front if need be without going outside but dont need to cut big holes and deal with trying to make a water tight connection.

I left the outside compartments with the exception of the drivers rear section. I removed the inner section of the compartment to build my bathroom. Toilet cassette is behind the rear upper saw/tool compartment door.

Looks like you already have access to the cab? Does the cab already have a slider? Blair

    2011 Hotshot Conversion

I dont have a pass through. My spare tire will remain behind the cab and in front of the box. With the rear opening door moving the spare tire wasn't worth it to me. I did have the thought of modifying the box so that I could have a side entry but decided it wasn't worth it. I like the rear door...

I dont have a build thread. Feel free to ask questions though. Box is on an LMTV chassis so it was modified to fit. Blair

    Super Compact UHF/VHF Dual Band?

That's good to know about the 2730 for people looking for a Remote face option. Unfortunately on the 5100 its not an option and people will need to buy an extension for the Mic if the body is more than a couple feet away. Blair

    Super Compact UHF/VHF Dual Band?

Looks like its attached to the main body like mine. Not on the remote head.

    Super Compact UHF/VHF Dual Band?

I have a 5100 and from what i have seen it is a nice radio. The one thing I dont understand about the Icoms is why they don't place the mic connection on the head unit? Its nice to be able to tuck the main body out of the way but the fact your mic is connected to the main body is a pain. You can...

    FMTV for World Travel?

I could BS you and say my contacts in the military are very deep reaching or admit to getting lucky finding the 2.87 chunks. They came up for sale with some 3.07's and I chose the 2.87's. Pure luck in timing. To use an often misquoted Shakespeare line "Discretion is the better part of valor"...

    FMTV for World Travel?

I decided to jump in buy a 1078 a couple years ago to give it a whirl. Knowing Sr. Suave and his apprehension about these trucks I have been pleasantly surprised thus far. As I have not done what the OP asks I can only relay my experience thus far owning one. I have been in contact with a few...

Ram 5500 Fire Crew Carrier Overlanding Camper Build

I have married up a 13ft buggy box to my LMTV and used essentially the same system that was used on the original chassis. Hard mounted at the back with springs towards the front. The only thing I added were vulcanized rubber strips between the the box rails and the truck frame rails. The...
