Tire size recommendation for lifted Tacoma? "Skinny" or "normal"?

UPDATE: Well, you guys were right... They could not get the caster higher than 2.0 with the factory upper control arms without throwing the camber way out of whack. However, they DID get L & R side caster up to +2.0 and the truck does handle noticeably better, based on the 120 mile trip home...

Tire size recommendation for lifted Tacoma? "Skinny" or "normal"?

After all of this discussion, doing HOURS of research online, and asking opinions of a couple of guys I know who have these tires, I ended up with a set of Michelin LTX A/T2 in size LT265/75R16. Went with the 265's mostly because it doesn't look like that tire is made in 235/85R16. Tread is...

Tire size recommendation for lifted Tacoma? "Skinny" or "normal"?

Thanks for all the input, folks! I have pretty much decided to stick with the 235's, since I have been happy with that size on this truck, and on my FJ80 for the past 7-8 years. If I can get 1deg higher caster out of an alignment (scheduled for next week), sounds like that will get rid of the...

Tire size recommendation for lifted Tacoma? "Skinny" or "normal"?

Thought I'd post this, in case it helps anybody else in the future: I got the shop to send me the printout from the alignment they did immediately after installing the OME kit, and caster is about 1deg lower than it should be, which I guess would account for the "twitchy" feeling my wife is...

Tire size recommendation for lifted Tacoma? "Skinny" or "normal"?

Thanks. I had it aligned right after the suspension was installed, but didn't think to ask for a printout. I've been researching alignment specs for the past couple of hours over at tacomaworld.com, so now I know what to look for... I'll take it back to the shop and have them check it, and...

Tire size recommendation for lifted Tacoma? "Skinny" or "normal"?

I'm not unhappy at all with the 235's... This is not about "looks", for me. I'm just wondering if the 265's would be "better" for my use... @4xdog - Here's what it looks like today:

Rig weight? Stock shortbed Tacoma with Snugtop cap, plus 500 lbs or less of people + gear, 99% of the time. Highway driving 90+ percent of the time. The rest is rough, rocky roads/trails. Primarily, I'm interested in highway performance. @billiebob - I must have been lucky! I've run this...

Tire size recommendation for lifted Tacoma? "Skinny" or "normal"?

Hi folks. I know this is splitting hairs, but since there are a lot of "skinny" tire lovers here, I thought I'd run this by you and see what I get.... Redline, oh Redline, wherefore art thou Redline? FIRST, some background info, so you'll know where I'm coming from: I have had a set of...

Toyo MT 255/85R16 (and comparison pics)

Very similar to my use, though your rig is heavier. I have had both the MT and M55 and unless you are doing serious offroading, I would strongly recommend the M55. Lasts longer, rides smoother, grips great for all but the most serious mud or out through the brush type driving. I've had my...

    Toyo M-55

The M-55's are quiet to me, but I'm coming from MT's as the previous set. Also, I have Yokohama Y-742s on the Chevy half-ton pickup, and those are the noisiest tires I've ever heard... wear pretty quickly, too. Anyway, I have NO complaints at all about the M-55. Seems to wear long, rides...

Yep, I still have the M55's on the Cruiser. Still love these tires, but I really haven't put a lot of miles on them. Without looking at my log book I can't be exact, but I think they have around 5-6,000 miles on them and they still look essentially new. These are going to last me a LOT longer...
