Whats your OSM source? not all include contour lines. I get mine from here Africa North OSM Topo Routable | GMapTool and the contour show up in Basecamp at all detail settings, obviously more contours on the higher detail levels

I bought a 200k miles Prado 120 (GX470) and 2 week later took it on a 3 month 10k miles Africa trip last year. March this year I set of on another similar trip although corona meant much less mileage. Keep the GX well maintained and it will do the job easily.
