    Pizza on the Pistes

A great video by great people. It was awesome to meet them at the first ever Pizzas on the Piste last year. Pizzas on the Piste 2023 is being held on the 21st October. Same format as before, we give a rough area of Morocco to be in the day before, then 24 hours before the event exact GPS...

    Greetings and felicitations Overlanderists!

(Ignoring the issue of us Brits not being able to enter Morocco at the moment and the Morocco Mauritania border being closed at present due to COVID) A 2WD van will limit some of your choices of pistes in Morocco and the WS but there is still a huge amount of routes that are accessible without...

Where are all my MilSurp equipment fans at?

One of my most travelled but of kits is an old USMC Poncho, I've taken it everywhere over the last 30 years. Sadly it now needs replacing and I cant seem to find any for sale (I'm in the UK;) )

Blank Slate - Designing the Best Overlanding Navigation "system".

Can't help much with the tech or US side of things, but I can with North Africa ;), over 20 years exploring the area now and I run tours in Morocco and the Western Sahara and I am a contributor to the Overland Morocco guidebook For the navigation, you really need to find something that will run...

Automatic or Manual Transmission for Expedition Use?

Manual for me, too much cost and headache when a auto box fails. Can't say I ever get tired of changing gear. 2015 I ran a trip for 8 landcruisers to North Africa, 2 cars had gearbox issues, both auto boxes. Something to consider is that Toyota only fit a manual in the 70 series and most Africa...

Sleeping platform size for a GX470?

I have a sleeping platform in mine, pretty much 2m long. Depending on where the front seats are you could lose/add a bit

    Overland Vehicle Choices?

I bought a 200k miles Prado 120 (GX470) and 2 week later took it on a 3 month 10k miles Africa trip last year. March this year I set of on another similar trip although corona meant much less mileage. Keep the GX well maintained and it will do the job easily.

    ExPo's Lexus GX470 Overland Project

Nice choice, I got a Prado 120 last August, LC3 spec so manual 6 speed, rear door mounted spare and most importantly a factory diff lock. September I took it on a 3 month 10 000 mile north Africa trip, only mods were a front runner roof rack and Cooper AT3's. Needed a little more ground...
