I agree climbing on the tailgate can be a chore. My Jeep rear bumper has a step on each side making it easier for now. But my rover has a step with a swing open door, very easy to get in and out. Probably the easiest access I have used was an old six-pac camper with a full-height door in the...
Some of it depends on what bed length you have. I sleep solo in the back of my Old land rover on a bed platform with a basic kitchen set-up. It has 6 feet of useable length and I can easily sit up and have a center aisle. In my Gladiator the bed is only 5 feet so that is a no-go for sleeping...
I refused to pay the ridiculous price and wait almost a year for the various Gladiator toppers available. I found an old ARE contractor topper and shortened it 13 inches. Fits reasonably well and now I have terrific bed access and a nice rack for those longer things. All-in project cost $400.00
Very enjoyable Dan. You are showing a much more reasonable approach to exploring that most of us can appreciate. Thank you for making all the videos from amazing parts of the world that most of us won't have the opportunity to explore.
These guys sell rebranded King swags.

I picked up one of the Mid-46 swags to give it a try. It is a surprisingly large roll to toss around but plenty of room for my wife and I to sleep in. Works well under an awning like Dan has shown and keeps out...
I'm down in SE Arizona, not too far away. The lid mechanism looks interesting. Possibly more room inside than the mini. Do you have a link on who made this one?
I ran across this company online looking for a two-person swag available in the US. The boxes look pretty handy. Does anyone have experience with them?

I think the LJR is the pinnacle of Jeep development. The addition of overly complicated computer controls has really degraded the Jeep line-up. My only complaint was the small gas tank.
Great design. I have built several over the years and much like yourself I like the stove on the top and easy to use in place. I have made the top cover so it hinges back to make a table space to spread things out a bit.
Check this one out. I may pick one up so I can carry my canoe up top as well.

Glad to see the continuing saga. We just picked up a E450 class C in Alaska and plan on making it more of an off the beaten path rig.
What have you guys done with the water system in the truck? Seems that trying to keep the utilities working in colder temps would be very challenging.
