I use the phrase lots too.
Despite Jerry’s deflection he does take excellent pictures. Composition is a major part of good photography. Jerry just gave us a great example. His sunset/sunrise photos were greatly enhanced by the wind turbine.

The sporting goods store you found is called Gear Heads. I never pass through Moab without stopping there. Its amazing how that shop has grown since my first stop there, maybe 20+ years ago.
Cute little pup and great new owner.

I like CanyonLands too but one crappy rule that you cant drive the backroads, like White Rim, with a dog in your vehicle, keeps me away.

Regarding my life as a sailor i too dreamed of being a live-aboard. Probably would have except for marriage, kids, mortgage, etc. Played a lot with small boats though.

Like you i have stopped in VOG many times. Never get tired of those rock formations. I guess my favorite is the Seven Sailors because I’m a Navy veteran. Once a sailor….,,

You didn’t say who was on the trip but I thought I heard Driller on the radio.
We traveled through that area a few years back. A lot looked familiar.

You are probably long gone from the area now, but maybe next time. I highly recommend taking the guided tour of the inner canyon. I had a old woman guide who was around 90 years old. She not only knew the canyon intimately but she was also very entertaining. You would be able to drive your Jeep...
Glad you said “most”. I carry four Maxtrax and had to use all of them and lots of shovel work after getting stuck on a Baja beach a few years ago. Could have used two more for my trailer.

I did the Mojave Road several years back but we didn’t see the highlites y’all did. Next time slower with more exploring.

We have a big stopover spot nearby for the cranes. They call it Eckert Crane Days. I don’t recall a number but I’d guess 1000-1500. Love their sounds.
