Both side walls are framed. I am working on the front storage box. Unfortunately I've been sidelined for awhile with a back injury. Waiting to see if another surgery is in the future. I will post updates as they come along. I still hope to have it done this winter. More to come.

    Lexus history lookup

I know exactly the line you are talking about. It snakes the full length of the rig wrapping over the frame and under the body. They must put it in first then drop the body onto the frame. Good save!

Timbren- Great Products/Service. Overkill is Underrated

I installed the HD 3500 offroad setup on my current build. So far I only have about 40 miles on pavement, but I can say it handles well. The added ground clearance and the lack of needing shocks already is promising. My leaf sprung trailer handled horribly until shocks were installed.

    Rebuild a $2k 80?

You might get a little lift if you adjust the height sensors to trick the system, but it may have adverse effects.

    Rebuild a $2k 80?

You could eliminate it entirely if you replace torsion bars, coil springs, and shocks. The work it would take to remove the old and install the new, I'd just get a LC.

    Rebuild a $2k 80?

They ride great. You just have way the extra cost of repairs. The shocks are not shocks at all. They are really basically hydraulic rams. Each on is connected to an accumulator that is mounted to the frame. It has a bladder with nitrogen on one side, fluid on the other. The bladders eventually...

    Interesting

The problem with the newer Landcruisers, much like Land Rovers, is that they are confused on why we loved them so much. They should stay true to their roots. There history has been on rugged durability and off road ability. Now they are becoming status symbols and pavement pounders for the well...

    Looking for some friendly advise.

The 100's were offered the first couple years with a rear limited slip differential. They were dropped because the newer ones had traction control that was much better. The LSD differentials wore out quickly and were less effective. A newer one that had VVT(variable valve timing) also would be...

    Rebuild a $2k 80?

The suspension on the LX470 is on of the biggest differences from the Landcruiser. It rides great, compensates height for heavier loads, and is adjustable. The down side, if it breaks, OUCH! I have owned both, LX and LC. The suspension is unique in that it is almost fully hydraulic. You can...

Pintle vs Lock&Roll vs Max Coupler

I have no experience with the max coupler, but I liked my Lock N Roll so much on my small trailer I have added it to my current build. It is easy to couple it in just about any situation, its quiet, and there are many options for just about any tow vehicle or trailer. I was almost going with...

It is a common shape, lots of them out there. Our goal is to be able to take it to very remote locations, sleep in a bed, take a shower, have a restroom facilities inside. I wanted to keep it a small as possible with all that in mind.

    Canyon inspired homebuilt

A little progress, but can't work too hard on a holiday weekend:beer: That's my Fummins towing it. I plan on towing it mostly with my Landcruiser. The wheels and tires will eventually match. These have the wrong width and offset.

Funny you should ask, planning on taking it out of storage this weekend. I have had way too much customer work to even think about it all summer. Things are getting back to a steady pace, so I am back at it. Some inspiration from my last trip came from sleeping in the back of my Cruiser wishing...
