    EV acceptance is peaking

I agree that range and charge rate are more of a necessity than 3-second 0-60 times, especially for use cases like long distance towing, overlanding, etc. However, range/charge rate/performance are VERY closely linked. So, it's maybe less that performance is being "prioritized" than performance...

Looks like EV sales are actually on the rise

Good point! I should say "biggest screwup specific to EVs".

Looks like EV sales are actually on the rise

Is that 49% pre- or post-tax credit? Because a ~$50k Polestar 2 losing an immediate ~$7500 in resale (because the effective price is $42,500) would be 15% right off the bat. I don't know the methodology for the 49% vs 40%, but the tax credit definitely throws a wrench in some of the...

    EV acceptance is peaking

It's been entertaining seeing how hard you argued that there were "Plenty of chargers" even long after the people who were there in Chicago had proven otherwise, exactly as I originally explained 6 days ago. More chargers would have substantially reduced the problem in the first place.

    EV acceptance is peaking

We KNOW many people were affected by insufficient infrastructure, like the guy in the article who drove around looking for an available working charger until his car had to be towed. We DON'T know how many of the cars that were plugged in and abandoned were sitting around in the cold waiting to...

    EV acceptance is peaking

Haven't seen the Tacoma test, but yeah, towing stuff with really bad aero crushes range of all vehicles at highway speeds. Get a truck with a massive gas tank (or preferably, diesel), if you want to tow really long distances often.

    EV acceptance is peaking

As I've already said, SOME EVs end up abandoned due to cold. SOME EVs end up abandoned due to bad infrastructure. But to have this magnitude of problems, it takes BOTH. I've said this all along, yet you pretend I haven't. Your argument has devolved into just constantly misrepresenting what...

    EV acceptance is peaking

I mean, I was the one who responded to your original post on the topic, so it was obviously me. But yeah, I post mostly about EVs here because there are tons of people here who know way more about off-roading and overlanding than me, so on those topics, I mostly defer to those more...

    EV acceptance is peaking

And sufficient charging stations equals no mass abandonment of EVs, too. So, again, EXACTLY like I just said, it’s the combination of extreme cold AND bad infrastructure. Extreme cold didn’t cause mass abandonment elsewhere. Bad infrastructure didn’t cause mass abandonment elsewhere. The...

    EV acceptance is peaking

A few years ago, I sold my EVs and bought a couple manual-transmission, gas powered hot-hatches. I don't think everyone should drive EVs, nor that they're good for all use cases, nor that they give the same experience as enthusiast gas vehicles. My "EVangelist" cred is pretty weak. I just...

    EV acceptance is peaking

It's an interesting thought experiment, and people who do long-distance towing (and probably overlanding) and such would absolutely love switching to gas/diesel. BUT, some of these claims are... questionable. Half the weight: The base Lightning is only 10% heavier than the most similar gas...

    EV acceptance is peaking

Cool story, but multiple people who were there disagree with you. Wrong. I showed evidence days ago that there were often too few chargers at the affected locations even in better weather, and even very late at night, in the form of charging site reviews from owners who used them. Extreme...

    EV acceptance is peaking

Yikes, I laid out many of your erroneous claims about “plenty of chargers” right above here for all to see, and also showed proof from the articles/videos *that you cited* that a huge factor was not having enough chargers, and you’re still pretending that wasn’t your point. Wild. We can...

    EV acceptance is peaking

Instead of talking about all the ways you're trying to move the goalposts to topics every agrees on, like "cars had to be towed"... Let's hear from some of the people who had to tow their car away regarding the ACTUAL topic, which is your claim that there were "plenty of chargers." The...

    EV acceptance is peaking

Impressive. This is exactly the opposite of my position. We all know what the end result is of what happened. Cars died. Everyone agrees. And while others have said "doesn't matter why" and you claim that *I* think you're "wrong for thinking of why", reality is the opposite. The entire point...
