Man Brad, you are putting out some amazingly sharp images lately

Thanks. It just take practice practice practice. So far to still go on my journey. :sombrero:

I did just get a great book by Scott Kelby, Lightroom 3 book for digital photographers. If you use Lightroom it is a great reference loaded with tips. It's helping me get away from the mistakes of my past and learn better ways to enhance images without going over board.

I found a neat trick in Lightroom that corrects the vertical distortions from a wide angle lens. I can straighten the trees perfectly but you lose too much of the bottom of the image so I tried to balance that by partially straightening the trees. I lowered the exposure in the bottom half to tone down the tent light and fire a bit and desaturated the color a tad to hopefully look more natural.

What cha think, better or just walk away and leave the original image alone? :sombrero:

I liked the original.
I always see doctored pictures here, I like the way a picture comes out of the camera best.

Corey, Thanks for the feedback. I always appreciate another set eyes and the perspective that comes with it.

John I really like that first shot with the detailed sky. The light intensity of the fire over the background is always a challenge. I like how you blocked out the direct view of the fire in this shot.

Were you really able to capture that star filled night sky in one shot or did you have to combine two captures to get the final image? Thanks.

I'll have to give that approach a try next time I'm out. :wings:

I like this thread a lot. Some really nice photos, makes the work day better looking at burning coals in a fire, even if they are just on the screen. :costumed-smiley-007

This is me a few drinks in burning non-native tumbleweed on a remote beach at Lake Powell during a 4 day kayak trip. (rough 35mm scan)

Remote beach camp in Sonora Mexico (I need to work on getting better night images like many of the folks have posted here, much to learn...)

It's a single image.
