^ gosh Alaska and the far north has been on our bucket list for almost 10 years now. Dream trip for sure.

2nd 8.8 fitted up and will work perfectly. I did some quick calcs on the wms distance and offset these forgelines came with, worked out absolutely perfect, zero poke.

Now I need the sandblaster to answer my calls...
52097489903_397d3880c7_c.jpg

Scored some shiny parts on a bargain for the rear as well. It's a setup for the big ford 9" flange design, but with some tweaks will work perfect for my needs and the 8.8.

Final product will look something like this

Immediately after picking up the new Wilwood parts, we took off on another trip.

Lake Revelstoke bound for 5 days
52097460901_70e39b3236_c.jpg

Night 1, this beauty spot with a view of the snow capped mountains and a waterfall across the lake.

False morels were popping up everywhere,

Love this old revy hwy. Prior to the dam flooding it over, this was the only way up to mica. So cool to see nature taking it over.

2nd black bear spotting of the trip. This was 1 of 17 bears we ran into.
52097693219_f4f9a6b0a1_c.jpg

We ran up to Kinbasket on the 2nd day. Checked out some of the old logging equipment on the way.
52097485138_537fe6c2f1_c.jpg

This old boat read "Forest Engineer Victoria" would love to know the history on it.
52097461891_5ce570a56c_c.jpg

3 old barges remained at this old launch. Check out the rutting on the steel sheeting from the duallies. That was 3/8 plate, maybe 1/2" at one point - serious loads.

Our spot for the night on the big lake, bottom left side of the photo.
52097456506_29541f2f02_c.jpg

Checking out some of the Mica formations in the rock. Wish I knew more about geology and could truly appreciate these formations.

Absolutely love this place
52096430292_f31a6f9313_c.jpg

We made our way over to an area in attempt to hunt a black bear. We were immediately greeted by these fresh grizzly tracks and decided to get back in the canoe.
52097696459_38ccfc4485_c.jpg

Another section of the old hwy. Great place to test a snorkel kit!
52097959645_2758c37478_c.jpg

Made our way across lake Revelstoke the next day and found this stunning sand bar. Seized the opportunity and did some laying around.
52097965030_17b6828ffd_c.jpg

52096418802_2667ef0e23_c.jpg

Hard to make out but we watched these 2 giant grizzlies cruising the shoreline for the better part of the evening. We paddled out to them at one point and got within 500m or so. Once out on the water we also noticed a bull moose feeding towards the grizzlies. An hour or so later we watched the grizz chasing the moose up and down the shore line and through the forest trying to put it into the lake. It got dark and they were still hunting that moose, no idea who made out better on that deal. We were just happy to soak it in and enjoy the experience.
52097696094_71e601ebdc_c.jpg

If the nature show wasn't enough, this was the paddle back to camp.
52097483738_141ce1c650_c.jpg

At camp watching the bears some more.

Spotted this Cow moose with 2 brand new calf's.

These little guys could barely stand up for long enough to suckle and then immediately fall over and lay down.

Came across this old logging outfit on our way back down
52097443031_8878c41f46_c.jpg

I was so stoked to see this old high lead still operating. Imagine chainng up all 16 tires and driving this thing up the mountain, unreal.

When trying to find a place to call home on the 4th night we came across this old cable car.
52097695239_8d427757d8_c.jpg

I've asked a couple of guys I know that grew up in the area and logged, none of them have a clue about it's past.
I scoped it out and truck would definitely fit on that hanger!
52097960225_fb20838403_c.jpg

Final camp spot was a dandy. Right on the lake with a beautiful creek right next to us for ambience.
52097695704_a883a5aeba_c.jpg

The wife capped off the evening with a perfect bull trout in the canoe.
52097457196_403b615048_c.jpg

Getting creative when on very uneven terrain. Much easier than stacking rocks!
52097455991_4045b0656a_c.jpg

Went for a paddle the next am and were greeted by this amazing nature sighting. 2 beautiful caribou who couldn't have cared less about us.
After this sighting I learned that both sexes grow antlers. The males drop them over the winter after breeding, while the females don't usually drop theirs until late spring. The whole time we were staring at them I thought the one with the single spike remaining was the male when it was actually the opposite.
Regardless, very unique and rare sighting for these parts.

Amazing pictures! Glad to see you were able to get out and enjoy.

17 black bears? Wow. That's nuts. Same with the Revelstoke highway. Nuts. Might have to check that out next time I'm headed to the Okanagan.

I bet watching the the bears chase the moose was something you will never forget. What an amazing experience.

That's a fantastic drive. Really love the scenery around Bridal Falls, Hope and of course Banff. Really pretty much all of highway 1.... lol

If you have some time en route to Calgary, take the drive from Black Diamond on Highway 40 in the Kananaskis area... Amazing views.

Highway 40 hooks back up with highway 1 which takes you into Calgary :)

I have spent about six or seven days in and around Banff and Lake Louise. Beautiful area's. When making the drive I want to spend at least two weeks doing it. Maybe even four.

For sure, I wish a guy could still connect to Golden on the old Big Bend hwy, that would have been such a neat trip.

100% an experience that I'll never forget. It was also a glimpse at why we should never mess with a grizzly.

Small update,

Went to pick up a compressor last week and the guy had this in the driveway,

Said compressor. Pretty tough to beat these smittybuilt units for smaller tires, especially for $75 used.

So happy to have this local contractor available. $120 to blast all these parts. Not even worth the time and effort to do anything else.

This 4 piston 12.8" rotor package came up for sale just minutes down the road at a 1k discount from the new price. Not really stoked on the mismatch black/red calipers but I couldn't argue with the price. Gets me on the road and if another set comes up, maybe 6 piston, I'll go that route instead and resell these.
