This is something people are always asking for but up until now I haven't seen anything that is true 4 season. I also like how you made it with wheel wells so the wheels don't stick out and add unnecessary width. I own an Escape 17B which isn't really 4 season -- more like 3 1/2 if you don't mind sleeping next to cold walls.

I would have expected to see a cooktop though. Maybe diesel since you went with diesel heat. I guess the idea is Bring Your Own camp stove, but that's less than ideal because you will also have to bring a fuel source.

Good point about the cook top. The way we see it: Keep it flexible and use a stove you can move around. With a lithium battery system you could run induction as we do in our transit. Or you simply go with a propane cook stove. My very last option would be a diesel cook top. They are simply too slow, inefficient, overpriced and too finicky when you are at altitude.
At the end, with this huge counter space, the choice is yours.

Just took it to the scale:

outfitted trailer (dry) : only 960kg/2100lb
tongue weight (dry) 50.5kg/111lb ( gear and a full fridge will most likely bring it up to around 90kg/200lb

with a gvwr of 3500lb this will leave you with a solid payload of 1400lb! That’s more than the whole interior weighs.

I pulled it with our 2021 ford ranger and seriously could not tell that I’m towing anything. Well other than the trailer typical kick in the back once in while.

we are extremely happy how this turned out.

Nice work!

When's do you start working on the 4,600kg/10,000lb (max allowable for Class 5 license in BC) GVWR trailer with a false (heated tanks) floor?

Looks great. Makes me want to slap that box on the back of a cab-n-chassis truck.

I thought the same. But it’s a pretty big unit! Almost 140 inches long. Not a lot of CNC vehicles with a frame that long behind the cab besides something like a fuso.

Nothin' I couldn't fix with a sawzall and some sikaflex. ;)

For real, though, I think TC could absolutely spec-up a kit for a chassis-mount cabin. I reached out to my "local" TC affiliate a few months back without any response, but at some point, someone will make it happen.

Very interesting build. I was daydreaming of something very similar while wrestling with my pop-up camper this weekend. Just curious, what are the dimensions of the bed when it's made up?

Current regular cab Ford F-450 and F-550 chassis-cab trucks are available with 60" CA, 84" CA, 108" CA, and 120" CA frames, with another 47.2" from rear axle to end of frame (without aft-axle frame extensions).

Even with a 84" CA, one would just need a long enough bumper, right?

Yup. I saw that. But with a composite box this light you really don’t need a 450 or 550. 350 would be plenty. However the chassis cabs for the 350 don’t go beyond 8 feet I think.

Current regular cab DRW F-350 chassis-cab trucks are available with 60" CA and 84" CA ( with another 47.2" from rear axle to end of frame).

The RC, SC, and CC, Ford F-450 and F-550, are available with 84" CA.

The CC F-450 4x4 84" CA chassis-cab, with payload downgrade package to 15000 pounds, has a payload of 7,440 pounds. The RC DRW F-350 4x4 84" CA chassis-cab has a payload of 7500 pounds.

For someone that wants/needs a SC or CC 84" CA chassis-cab, a F-450/550 might work.

The 60" CA and 84" CA 450/550 chassis-cabs are available with aft-frame extensions. The combination might work well for someone who doesn't plan on towing, but wants a wide-track axle and a short wheelbase (at the expense of departure angle). Just be careful about recovery points. :)

The bed is a queen size! Very big for a trailer that size.
Note about the bathroom: Originally we planed for a fully enclosed wet bath but after dry fitting everything we thought it's better to have an open concept with just a hidden composting toilet. I'm glad we went that route as the counter top space is just amazing.

Took it out by myself for a proper shake down trip. Love the layout! installing lithium batteries tomorrow. The agm is pathetic…. Can’t even have the lights, fridge and heater on at the same time…
