Every year several thousand migrating sandhill cranes stop over in these cornfields near Palmyra, WI. They are only around for a few days before dispersing. There were quite a few this morning. It was really loud as the sun rose and they all started calling out.

These were taken back in the early 80's in Jackson, WY.
The local boy scout troop had permission to collect the Elk antler sheds from the winter Elk reserve.
They would auction them off to collect funds for the troop.

Bull at the end of the rut 2019. He had a harem of about a dozen cows and a couple of them were standing on the road in front of my shuttle bus and he was next to my side window. I opened the window and asked if he minded me taking his picture he didn’t turn away so I took a few pics, I could have touched his nose from my seat wished the car in the background wasn’t there. All these pictures were taken from my bus on my phone. I generally work the early morning shift which gives me a lot of opportunity to see wildlife.

Can you imagine the traffic jam that guy would have caused on 64 between the entrance station and the visitors center?
Can you cool it down a bit for me? I’ll be up there to PSAR 4 days later next week
