I just bought a firetruck for a custom overland build!

I recently purchased a 1997 Mercedes Benz SK 2653 that I plan on converting to an expedition vehicle for export to the United States, in 2022.

The truck served as a fire engine at an airport in Denmark for 23+ years...has a little over 67,000km.

I am in the process of researching potential contractors to Build the Habitat with. I was originally planning on going to Abenteuer & Allrad exhibition to meet with potential providers in person this summer, but it keeps being delayed due to continued Covid-19 complications.
I am reaching out to the forum/community for some potential brainstorming and ideas on the best option in planning and completing this project. I will also be posting photos and project updates to this thread.50399_1.jpg1622889979936_IMG-20210518-WA0015.jpg50399_3.jpgIMG-20210518-WA0034.jpgIMG-20210518-WA0057.jpgIMG-20210518-WA0061.jpgIMG-20210518-WA0045.jpg50399_7.jpg1622889959626_IMG-20210518-WA0045.jpgIMG-20210518-WA0056.jpg

I'm most interested in how you change the chassis, suspension since it'll weigh so much less minus all the tanks and fire apparatus.

Clovis California is a nice company branched out of Europe. Very nice people and high quality.

I believe that this company is going to dominate the industry in the future.
KRUG, The prices and price point for a complete box with shipping to USA is beyond comparison?
Contact info below.
These German and Austrian engineers have figured it out. They are going to be the biggest most competitive company in the industry. Approximately 8 yr old company is knocking it out of the park.

I have heard of Krug...I believe they are based in Ukraine which is partially why they can offer such competitively priced builds. I would like to speak with someone who has long term experience with one of their builds.

I want to explore the options of upgrading the chassis with air suspension and rear axle steering.(just the last axle)

I know this is not a simple task with these older vehicles, but I want to investigate the options

I reached out to

But if anyone can think of another specialist worth consulting with please feel free to suggest

That is quite the truck. Just a heads-up that this section you have posted in, is a 'For Sale' section. You might get more information in the section dedicated to the discussions of either Mercedes Trucks ( https://expeditionportal.com/forum/forums/unimog-and-mb-truck.26/ ) or Integrated Overland Campers ( https://expeditionportal.com/forum/forums/integrated-overland-campers.73/ ). The moderators should be able to move it for you if you desire.
I look forward to watching your progress.

You might check with 4wheel24 ( https://4wheel24.de/ ) in Hasloch, Germany, and they now also have a branch in the USA with Terra Exp ( https://terra-exp.com/ ) in Flordia.
