Crew cab long bed (8ft) for overlanding??? Is this viable or realistic?

I just looked up a 2021 Ford F350, SRW, Crew Long bed, 4x4, MSRP...$89,000! Ouch!
What trim??

I just built an XLT cclb 4x4 with options I'd choose and am just over $65k not including my upfit. My 2018 Transit 250 was $40600 or something before upfit which has a lot to do with it being purchased instead of a super duty.

It was the “limited” model, but I think would be better named the “unlimited” model because you’re gonna need unlimited funds to buy this beautiful rig!

I just got mine decently optioned XL for 50k and I didn’t get any kind of discounts other than the $500 military one.

8ft isn’t that bad. I’ve got a 2014 Ram 2500 double cab 8ft bed and most of the time it’s more of a blessing than a curse. I’m in the South West, buts it’s always great to have tons of room in the cab for the family, plus plenty of room for a toolbox, dog crate, dirt bike or whatever I want in the back. Yeah it’s a pain to maneuver in town sometimes, and it can get tight in some wooded areas, but if your not too scared of scratches, you’ll be just fine.

Using Ford's "Build and Price", a 2021 (new) (and with the right factory options ordered) F-350 XL 4x4 SRW Crew-Cab Long-Bed, 7.3L gas engine, "Fx4 off-road" package skidplates, 4.30 locking rear axle, snow-plow/camper-package, 397 amp alternator, dual batteries, block heater, XL value package (for cruise control), 18" steel wheels + LT275/70Rx18E BSW A/T, 4x4 Tires, and Integrated Trailer Brake Controller, has a MSRP of about $48,320.

Please keep in mind that the 18" rims were chosen to help achieve the highest payload possible for the 4x4 SRW CCLB F-350XL. Double check, but, without a bunch of other options eating in to the payload, the above truck should have a GVWR of about 11,900 pounds, and a payload of about 4,730 pounds.

One could go with DRW if a greater payload 4x4 CCLB F-350XL is desired.
