A pretty decent video about how Harley-Davidson killed itself

As a Harley rider with 3 Iron Butt rides under my belt...

You did the IB on a Harley?

That's like taking a Nerf Gun to a gunfight. A Nerf gun made out of lead, powered by a whoopie cushion, and covered with gaudy chrome, fringed pleather, and skull ornaments with constipated facial expressions...

The first overhead cam engine was invented in 1902.

118 years later, Harley still couldn't catch a clue, even if they used a step-ladder and a butterfly net...

All these comments about Harley owners can be said about Honda, Kawasaki, triumph etc. Blue pill vs red pill. Who cares.

No.

And since you brought up blue pills:

There is a valid reason that Viagra uses Harley-Davidsons in their advertisements.

I can assure you that there are no ED ads in Roadracing World.

This is the ultimate thread of clueless snobbery. Either you don't understand what makes the Harley crowd do what they do. Friendship and enjoyment by sharing a commonality or you just don't have any friends. I'm leaning heavily toward the later. Your anal, childish snob attitude points clearly to never being invited out to play..

Too many reported posts in this thread. Pull it back on track guys. NO personal attacks. You wanna do that - go elsewhere. There are plenty of places to do that on the web. Thanks - DJ

I get the nostalgia aspect of the old tech. If it works why change it? They have a distinct look and sound that many have replicated over the years.
Looks like it might not be working anymore. Time to diversify, I wish they'd kept the Buell brand around.
I took one of those livewires for a ride back when they were touring them around as prototypes. I really liked it actually. Who'd have thought Harley would be producing electric motorcycles?

I get the nostalgia aspect since I love old stuff too. But if I want a '66 Mustang GT, I buy a '66 Mustang GT. Ford would be long dead if you walked into a dealership and they were selling '66 tech as current tech for premium dollars. Evolve or die.

If a motorcycle buyer wants to be nostalgic, how about being nostalgic about something that's real:

The Ace Cafe London is the very cafe that is referred to in the term "cafe racer". This is ACTUAL history, not some made-up BS like Harley tries to trade on...

We've been to the Ace Cafe London- there were no Harleys there.

We've been to the Isle Of Man TT- there were no Harleys there.

They're just not part of motorcycling...

Again because it doesn't fit your snobbish idea of what motorcycling is you chose to trash it. People who enjoy the Harley lifestyle enjoy the pleasure of riding. But a jerk will always be a jerk..Carry on..

The Michigan State Police does extremely detailed testing of all police vehicles offered for sale in the U.S., and publishes an annual report documenting the results. Law enforcement agencies all over the country use their annual reports.

It turns out that the absolute top speed of Harley-Davidson's 1.9-liter motorcycles as documented in the MSP reports, is slower than the electronically-restricted top speed of the 1.8-liter Toyota Prius:

And the highest posted speed limit on US freeways is 80 mph..So what's your point?
