Running wiring for the back up cam. And here is the busbar capable of handling the 220 amp alternator output minus losses, to the battery tray where this will reside. Connects to a new 2/00 wire that will charge the house batteries Ill be placing inside. Small gains!

I’m not sure if the configuration of the 2/00 would allow it, but I’d recommend protecting the battery leads with split loom. The ambulance upfitter did that on my rig and it seems to be a good way to avoid unwanted battery explosions. ;)

So they run the split loom over lug ends? Yea. Looking at it mounted like this. I think its better inside?

Not the lug ends... as an extra layer over the wire insulation. If the insulation was to be worn through by a sharp edge, the pair of batteries will erplode it ththe lead shorted out.

Yes. Thanks for the reply! Who was the outfitter for your ambo? Mine is a Leader build from here in Southern California. Im really happy with their build quality. I also have split loom on most every wire. It nice having that peace of mind with some extra protection. I am definitely adding some 3/4” split loom to my wires. Its cheap insurance.

Crestline. Built by ambulance attendants for ambulance crews.

Hi. And thanks for the post. Split loom covers electrical wires. I like black. But it can be white, grey, beige etc. and they come in all types of diameters depending on what needs to be covered. My battery cables are 00 double 0. Looks like a 3/4” diameter loom will cover it. The loom is like a corrugated plastic hose. And down the whole thing its been cut. So you can place what you need to protect inside. Rather than just have plain insulated wire. Its like an extra layer of coverage. My Leader ambulance build has most wires inside the split loom. But not every single one. https://www.amazon.com/Split-Nylon-...ocphy=9031342&hvtargid=pla-464122692226&psc=1

Available on weekends only. This awesome old garage. For free. Its beautiful. Secure. Quiet. And I ran an extension cord from where I work. No one else there on weekends. Many thanks for this blessing.

I didn have to remove my MaxxFan cover. Its four screws. Easy! But I had to cut the two wires. Or else I would not make the clearance of 9’3”

Cut a piece from the previously removed action panel from the back. It held the O2 stuff and switches. I cut it to fit the 3.5x7.5” opening above the drivers seat. Then I used it to mount the back up cam. It is hardwired in to pos and neg. there is a remote for it also. But its setup for being on all the time. Or being off. Whenever you press the power button on it. Or hit the remote. Works great !!! Took a long time to mount correctly. Dicor non self leveling black on the rear mount. And also some inside on the wire feed above the overhead console. Rubber grommet guides the wire also. Really clean and nicely mounted. I figure also if your ever towing you could see whats up too. Only turns on when key is at acc or running. I have not checked out the nightime infrared lights. Does not pull up parking lines. But its clear as day whats in the monitor.

Used some sandpaper 150 to scuff up the brass electrical tabs.

ohhhhhh..... duhhhhhhhhh... brain dead...... don't know why my mind was drifting toward some sort of "Y" or some sort of means separating of a heavy gauge wire to split off in two directions.. duh..... massive hemorrhaging brain fart must have occured while reading things first time round......heck I even know what split loom is though always just called it a "wire loom".

"split loom" the spiral plastic tube split down the center to slide over wiring to protect it from chafing.

All wired and securely mounted. Sandwiched some black butyl between the fiberglass and mount. Covered it all and the stainless steel screws and with dicor black. And it works like a charm. On/off is at your discretion.

Steam cleaned the existing bundle after undoing the strap. Then retightened it back down. Some areas have 1” and others 1-3/4” Thinsulate. Then its all covered with one final layer of 1-3/4”. Rather tough to lay a piece back behind the rear cabinet along the lower portion. It has 3.5” of fiberglass on the sides up to the roof and up into the ceiling. Should make for a more comfy setup

Opened up the rear fiberglass behind the rear overhead storage. This will allow me to install Thinsulate.
