Two Vagabonds, Today’s Travel Blog Discovery

It’s one of the most visually entertaining travel blogs on the internet. It chronicles the travels of two German overlanders and unfortunately for some of us, is written entirely in German. That doesn’t make it any less captivating. With a little trip through Google Translate, I’ve been able to sort out many of the key details. Simone and Olaf Patt hit the road in 2006 in a highly modified VW van to travel the world. By 2007, they had decided to sell their house and travel more or less full time. Not long after in December of 2009, they made the considerable upgrade from a VW van to an enormous overland rig, a Magirus 170 D. They have since traveled more than 60,000 miles through Europe, Morocco, and massive tracks of North and Central America. They have traveled as far north as the upper reaches of Alaska to the tip of South America where their journey continues. Their website is filled with beautiful images and videos. If you don’t mind a little cut and paste, and a few clicks of the Google translator, it makes for a fun read. I’d say they’re living the dream, seeing the world and having a great time.
