Ram Increases 1500 EcoDiesel Production to Meet Demand

When Ram started taking orders for their highly anticipated 1500 EcoDiesel, few would have been so optimistic as to see more than 8,000 units requested in just three days, but that’s exactly what happened. This left many would-be buyers scrambling to find available trucks for purchase. Seeing the need to fill the demand, Ram is now making efforts to increase availability of the EcoDiesel Ram 1500 by adding more units to the production schedule. As the year comes to a close, more than 20% of all Ram 1500s sold will be of the diesel burning variant.

The 2015 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel is the most fuel efficient pickup in America with its 3.0-liter VM Motori V-6 engine churning out a solid 28 miles per gallon. It also produces 420 foot-pounds of torque capable of towing 9,200 pounds. The TorqueFlight eight-speed transmission, active aerodynamics, and air suspension make the 1500 a star performer. The winner of Motor Trend’s Truck of the Year in both 2013 and 2014, the 2015 model is arguably the best ever.

Built at the Warren Truck Assembly Plant in Warren, Michigan, the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel is built in the same facility that has produced more than 13 million trucks since it opened operations in 1938. The 3.0-liter EcoDiesel engine is manufactured in Fiat Group Automobile’s VM Motori factory in Cento, Italy.
