Piru Creek So Cal, Kayaking

Lower iru Creek is flowing right now with a flow of 250cfs. This may not sound like much of a flow but it is a boatable flow and an enjoyable kayak run close to Los Angeles and even closer to the Santa Clarita Valley. Flows should go up a bit each week for the next month or so until it peaks around 400-500cfs. It is rated Class 2 and a should sit on top kayak would be OK if you dont have a regular whitewater kayak. If interested in doing this and need a partner let me know. I would like to get on it in the next week or so.

Wow!! I just got home from running Piru Creek. It has been 3 years since the last time I ran it and it was great. The drops are fun and a little technical and there is even a "new" class 4 drop that is easy to portage if you arent up to the challenge. Great fun. I'll be doing it again soon before they start to turn the water off.:)
